Lead DevOps EngineerRole overviewWe are looking for a DevOps Engineer who focuses on solving problems and designing practical solutions. You will take ownership of delivery platforms and influence technical direction across teams and clients. This role combines deep hands-on engineering with leadership, mentoring and stakeholder engagement.You will work in agile delivery teams and help shape how DevOps is applied across enterprise environments.Key responsibilitiesLead the design and improvement of CI/CD platforms and workflowsOwn complex technical problems from discovery through to solutionDefine and promote engineering standards and best practiceDesign Infrastructure as Code solutions for cloud and hybrid platformsProvide technical leadership within delivery teamsMentor and develop junior and mid-level engineersReview designs, code and pipelinesWork closely with architects, product owners and stakeholdersCommunicate trade-offs and decisions clearlyContribute to roadmap planning and technical strategyRequirementsTechnical skills and experienceCI/CD and source controlStrong experience designing and running CI/CD pipelinesDeep understanding of Git-based workflowsInfrastructure as Code and developmentTerraform using HCL in production environmentsPython for automation and toolingExperience with other languages such as Bash, PowerShell or GoCloud platformsStrong experience with one or more of:AWSAzureGCPWorking knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid architecturesUnderstanding of identity, networking and security in cloud platformsOperating systems and platformsStrong Linux experienceWindows Server experiencemacOS familiarity for engineering workflowsNetworkingGood depth across:DNSTCP/IPLoad balancingFirewalls and routingVirtualisation and hardwareVMware experience (vSphere, ESXi or similar)Understanding of physical infrastructure and data centre environmentsLeadership and behavioursProven experience leading by influence, not titleAbility to explain complex technical ideas clearlyComfortable challenging designs and assumptionsExperience developing and mentoring engineersStrong collaboration and communication skillsAble to balance delivery with longer-term improvementWays of workingExperience working in agile delivery environmentsComfortable working across multiple teams or clientsPragmatic approach to tooling and architectureFocus on outcomes and reliabilityWhat we valueStrong problem-solving and solutioning mindsetOwnership and accountabilityClear communicationTechnical curiosity and continuous improvementBenefitsBy joining us you can expect: Autonomy to develop and grow your skills and experience Be part of exciting project work that is making a difference in society Strong, inspiring and thought-provoking leadership A supportive and collaborative environment.
