Job Description
**About Us**
Kids In Nutrition (KIN) is a nationwide, student\-led movement dedicated to food justice, climate resilience, and improved health outcomes for youth and families through food literacy and access. By mobilizing trained university volunteers as near\-peer mentors to deliver trauma\-informed, culturally responsive curricula, KIN inspires children with the foundational nutrition knowledge needed to build healthy habits and make informed, environmentally friendly food choices as they grow.
Our work focuses on Title I communities, where systemic barriers in education, healthcare, and food access contribute to higher rates of poor health outcomes and climate vulnerability. Through early education, KIN works to prevent chronic disease, advance health equity, and cultivate future leaders in public and planetary health. Because health begins with YOUth.
**Position Overview**
We are looking for a creative, efficient, and autonomous Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our small, but mighty, team on a contract basis. In this role, you will act as a key execution partner for our brand, responsible for developing and deploying communication strategies that engage our diverse audience, elevate our brand presence, enhance our digital footprint, and drive nonprofit growth.
The ideal candidate is a storyteller who leads with ‘why’, a sharp copywriter, and a data\-informed marketer who can hit the ground running, manage projects independently, and deliver high\-quality work with minimal daily supervision. We want someone who will bring energy, creativity, and an impact\-driven approach to KIN, using communication as a tool to empower others, strengthen communities, and inspire informed food choices that contribute to the health of people and the planet.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Draft, edit, and proofread high\-quality copy for a variety of channels, including email newsletters, website copy, social media campaigns, and marketing/outreach collateral to bring KIN’s mission, educational programs, and nationwide chapters to life.
* Support organic and paid social media efforts across platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram to increase community engagement and brand awareness.
* Lead content marketing efforts by creating high\-quality copy, web content, and basic visual assets using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other digital graphic design tools.
* Collaborate on shaping, defining, and refining the KIN brand voice and identity to ensure all materials strictly align with strategic messaging guidelines, visual identity, and our commitment to evidence\-based content.
* Design and execute high\-impact mini\-campaigns to drive donations, sponsorships, and community support by creating compelling visuals, impact reports, and pitch decks.
* Develop targeted PR strategies by drafting media pitches, maintaining media lists, and tracking press coverage to build strong relationships with industry journalists and influencers.
