Job Description

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of Finance and Accounting oversees all accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, strategic planning, and the management of a high-performing team. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the monthly close process, maintaining robust internal controls, and ensuring full compliance with GAAP and statutory tax regulations. A key focus of the position involves driving operational excellence through the implementation of system upgrades, process improvements, and efficient business practices across a multi-departmental structure. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with over 10 years of experience who can balance strategic financial projects with the hands-on management of audits and stakeholder reporting.Key Responsibilities:Under the supervision of the CFO, the Director of Finance and Accounting will lead and manage the finance and accounting departments, including teams responsible for financial reporting, planning, analysis and complianceResponsibilities include monitoring the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded; reviewing journal entries and account balance reconciliations; and financial statement preparationParticipate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changesContinuous focus on improving system efficiencies and business practicesParticipate in strategic financial projects including financial reporting system upgrades and implementationsEnsure timely filing of all financial statements, reports, and tax filings, including VAT, with internal and external stakeholdersInteract at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reportingCollaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and complianceMaintain the chart of accounts to ensure accuracy in the general ledger and financial statementsAnalyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesDevelop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accuracy in financial reportingPassion for Open Source: A strong interest in Open Source, experience and exposure a plus but not requiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited institution10+ years of experience in finance and accounting roles, including 5+ years in a team leadership and management Proven track record in financial reporting, strategic financial planning, and team managementExperience working in complex, large-scale organizations or companies with multi-department financial structuresStrong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP), and tax lawsExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsProficiency in financial software (ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling)Ability to think strategically and manage complex financial scenariosAbility to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentHigh level of integrity and transparency in financial reporting and decision-makingA proactive problem-solver with the ability to drive change and process improvementsMust be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently on special projectsThe Linux Foundation is creating the greatest shared technology investment in history by enabling open source collaboration across companies, developers, and users.
