Job Description

**About the Role** We are looking for a curious, resourceful PR Data Analyst who sees a headline hiding in every spreadsheet. Stan Ventures is a leading SEO and link\-building agency serving agencies and brands in the UK, the US and other English\-speaking markets. In our Digital PR department, words tell the story, but numbers make people believe it. You will start as a freelancer, working project by project with our Digital PR team. You will find data, collect it, clean it and prove the story with it. Data is expensive, so your job is to find the cheapest source that tells the story: the client's own data, free public data, scraping, or a survey when nothing else will do. As the work grows, this role is designed to become a full\-time position owning data for the whole department. The data is never the point. The story it proves is. You will think like a journalist first and an analyst second. **Key Responsibilities** * **First\-Party Data:** Work with clients to unlock the aggregate, anonymised data they already hold (site search terms, CRM trends, support ticket themes, product usage, pricing patterns) and turn it into stories no competitor can copy. Set up recurring checks so every change becomes a new story. * **Free Data Sources:** Build and maintain a department library of free data sources, including government, census, ONS, US federal and open data portals, and track where other brands' data stories got their numbers. * **Scraping:** Scrape websites, reviews, listings, social platforms and search data to build original datasets, using tools and your own scripts where needed. Keep all scraping legal, ethical and within platform terms. * **Surveys:** Design survey questions that produce a headline, brief the survey provider, and set sample sizes. Apply our calculated\-risk rule: no paid survey unless the idea is sure to work. * **Story Types That Land:** Build rankings and indexes, data reactions to breaking news within hours, and fun questions settled with data, such as regional maps and head\-to\-head comparisons. * **Analysis and Methodology:** Clean, analyse and sense\-check every dataset. Write a clear, defensible methodology for every campaign that a journalist can check. * **Visualisation:** Turn findings into simple charts, maps and tables that journalists can use straight away, working with the design team where needed. * **The Data Idea Bank:** Own the department's data idea bank. Log every clever methodology you see (headline, publication, data type, story type, methodology and how we'd copy it) and match ideas to clients. * **Support the Team:** Be the go\-to person for the Digital PR Executives and PR Writer on anything that needs a survey, a scrape or careful analysis. Hand over findings in a form the writer can build on. * **Trend Monitoring:** Use trends and search tools to spot rising topics and search spikes for each client's industry, and flag data\-led story opportunities early. **Requirements \& Qualifications**
