Job Description
About Aigent EnergyAGent is building the leading software platform to optimize distributed generation resources — turning energy liabilities into reliable, monetizable assets. We bring AI to the aggregation, orchestration, and monetization of distributed generation in wholesale and retail power markets, delivering meaningful reliability, economic, and sustainability benefits to commercial, institutional, and industrial energy users, utilities, and grid operators. We move fast, think big, and operate with a lean, high-trust team. Every hire matters here.About the roleAGent is seeking an exceptional Cloud Backend & Infrastructure Engineer to architect and operate the mission-critical AWS infrastructure that powers our distributed energy platform. This is a core technical role for someone who thrives at the intersection of scale, reliability, and real-world impact — where the systems you build directly affect grid stability and the acceleration of the energy transition. You'll own the entire cloud backend stack — from IoT device provisioning and serverless data processing to database optimization and infrastructure automation. You'll design efficient TimescaleDB schemas that handle high-volume time-series data, implement robust .NET-based Lambda functions for real-time processing, and ensure our infrastructure meets the demanding security, scalability, and reliability requirements of critical energy infrastructure. You'll collaborate closely with our Application Engineering and Embedded teams to deliver end-to-end solutions that enable utilities and energy customers to transform distributed generation from intermittent resources into reliable, valuable grid assets. The systems you build will ingest real-time telemetry from thousands of generators, orchestrate precise control events, and maintain seamless integration with our customer-facing applications. This is an opportunity to build cloud infrastructure at scale while contributing to the fundamental transformation of how energy is generated, stored, and distributed across the modern power grid.ResponsibilitiesCloud Infrastructure & IoTDevelop AWS IoT Core provisioning workflows and device communication channels that reliably connect and manage distributed generation assets at scaleImplement AWS Lambda functions in .NET for telemetry ingestion, command handling, and real-time alertingMaintain logging, monitoring, and security policies across the cloud platform to ensure uptime and compliance with critical infrastructure standardsData Architecture & Backend ServicesDesign and optimize TimescaleDB schemas for generator telemetry and event storage — built to handle high-volume, high-frequency time-series data with precisionDrive SQL optimization and schema design to support fast, reliable querying across the platformBuild and maintain backend services that power real-time data pipelines from edge devices to cloud and application layersDevOps & AutomationManage CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions to support fast, reliable deploymentsAutomate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and/or CloudFormationOwn infrastructure-as-code practices across the cloud environmentCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Embedded and Application Engineering teams on end-to-end integration across hardware, firmware, and cloud layersContribute to technical architecture decisions that support AGent's long-term scalability and reliability goalsQualificationsRequired5+ years of backend and cloud engineering experienceStrong hands-on knowledge of AWS IoT Core, Lambda, and EC2Proficiency with .NET (C#) for backend services and serverless functionsSQL optimization and schema design experience — Postgres and/or TimescaleDB strongly preferredFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform and/or CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelinesExperience securing IoT and cloud integrations in production environmentsPreferredAdvanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fieldExpertise with generator technologies, standby/backup power systems, or emergency generation assetsExperience with renewable energy assets, battery storage systems, or distributed energy resourcesBackground in mission-critical or real-time industrial systemsBenefitsCompetitive base salary, performance bonus, and early-stage equity100% employer-paid Health, Dental, and Vision premiums for full-time employeesTwo health plan options: traditional plan with FSA, or HDHP with company-funded HSABasic Term Life Insurance + voluntary insurance optionsFlexible PTOFully remote — work from anywhere in the U.S.The opportunity to build infrastructure that directly impacts grid reliability and the energy transitionOriginally posted on Himalayas
