We are seeking a highly analytical and compliance\-driven Payroll Manager with 7\+ years of multi\-state experience to own our end\-to\-end payroll operations for both corporate staff and salaried clinicians. Reporting to the VP of People and working closely with our Finance team, you will be the hands\-on master of our modern tech stack, utilizing platforms like Rippling and Betterment to ensure flawless payroll delivery, variable compensation distribution, and robust 401(k) administration. Beyond daily execution, you will act as a core compliance anchor, spearheading annual audits, salary benchmarking, state tax registrations, and agency notices as our business scales into new territories.

**Job Details**
* Full\-Time, Remote
* W\-2 only
**Job Requirements**
* 7\+ years of progressive multi\-state payroll experience
* Experience registering, setting up, and managing compliance across multiple state tax jurisdictions.
* Advanced proficiency with Rippling (or very similar modern HRIS/payroll platforms).
* Experience managing digital 401(k) platforms, specifically hands\-on administration within Betterment or similar modern record keepers.
* High proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data manipulation) to handle variable compensation modeling, data reconciliation, and salary benchmarking.
* Deep compliance expertise, including managing annual 401(k) discrimination testing, 5500 filings, and dedicated external audit support.
* Comprehensive understanding of multi\-state Workers’ Compensation laws, payroll tax filing regulations, and year\-end ACA reporting (1095\-C) / W\-2 compliance.
* Excellent cross\-functional communicator capable of partnering with HR, Legal, and Finance teams while providing empathetic, clear support to employee payroll inquiries.
* Comfortable analyzing market data to build out salary bands and run routine, proactive audits to catch errors before they affect employees.
* Nice to have: Strong working knowledge of healthcare or billable\-hour payroll structures (handling complex shift differentials, billable vs. non\-billable hours, and clinician compensation models).
