Job Description
Our client, the global IT services company is hiring for the Sr. Mainframe Storage/Tape Engineer position. This is a permanent, full-time, 100% remote position. Responsibilities:Perform daily Storage management activities relating to SMS routines, DASD pools monitoring housekeeping batch jobs and on-call supportTroubleshoot basic space issues, perform migrate and archive functions Implement routine storage-type changes relating to client requests to add or move volumesTroubleshoot JCL errors and resolve themCreate and maintain core system backupsLogin and monitor IBM TS7700 gridsUnderstand the incident, change, and problem processes and execute the processesImplement new storage solutionsPerform and Lead DR drills and provide direction to other drill team members Create and manage SMS spoolsConfigure Tape and DASD hardware devices from the device level Peer reviews all storage changes that the team executesAdministration of Storage SoftwareSetup and troubleshoot storage replication (Tape and DASD)Troubleshoot IBM grid failures and have an in-depth understanding of how to monitor and manage them across multiple clusters in multiple locationsLead Storage restoration efforts during outagesProvide Oncall 7 x 24 rotationMandatory QualificationsApplicants for employment in Canada must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorizationBachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience3-5 years of relevant work experience in Mainframe Storage and Tape projectsProven experience managing IBM, EMC/DELL, HP Storage and Tape HW and SoftwareProficiency in Storage and Tape implementation/migrationOther QualificationsRelevant certifications such as Mainframe Storage Administrator are preferredExperience with z/OS system programming with focus on Storage and Tape is preferredIncident, Problem, Change, Configuration ManagementOriginally posted on Himalayas
