Franchise Bookkeeper — Multi-Unit Operator

About the role We provide outsourced bookkeeping and accounting to multi\-unit franchise operators — owner\-operators running 5, 20, 50\+ locations across QSR, fitness, personal services, home services, and retail concepts. You’ll keep the books clean and current for a portfolio of franchisee clients so their owners, our controllers, and their lenders always have accurate numbers to work from. This is a production bookkeeping seat, not a controller role. You’ll close a lot of books, catch a lot of coding errors, and reconcile a lot of accounts — reliably, on schedule, every month. What you’ll do * Maintain daily/weekly bookkeeping for a portfolio of 2–10 franchisee client entities on QuickBooks Online * Categorize and reconcile bank and credit card transactions across multiple entities * Enter and code accounts payable; process weekly bill pay through Bill.com or similar * Reconcile POS deposits (Toast, Square, Clover, Lightspeed) to bank activity by unit * Post payroll journal entries from Gusto, ADP, Paychex, or Paycom and reconcile to the GL * Track royalty, ad fund, and technology fee accruals and reconcile to franchisor statements * Prepare and file monthly/quarterly sales tax returns across multiple states * Support the Controller during month\-end close with clean, reconciled trial balances * Communicate directly with client owner\-operators on missing receipts, uncategorized items, and coding questions * Flag anything that looks off to the Controller before it hits the financials What you bring * 3\+ years of full\-charge bookkeeping, ideally in a multi\-client environment (outsourced accounting firm, franchise operator back office, or restaurant/retail multi\-unit) * QuickBooks Online fluency — you know it cold, including class/location tracking for multi\-unit reporting * Solid Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic multi\-entity roll\-ups * Comfort with accrual bookkeeping — accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, fixed asset entries * Multi\-state sales tax filing experience * Detail obsession — you notice when a bank rec is off by $12\.47 and don’t stop until you find it * Direct client communication skills without jargon * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent experience What sets you apart * Franchise brand experience (QSR, fitness, personal services, home services) * POS integration experience (Toast, Square, Clover, Lightspeed to QBO) * Bill.com, Ramp, or Divvy proficiency * QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification * Bilingual English/Spanish What we offer * Fully remote with flexible hours around close deadlines Pay: $40\.00 \- $65\.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
