Join us in building the future.The RoleThe Director of Strategy & Research is a critical role in the transformation and growth story of Lumen. This role leads the creation of research insights leading to production of public-facing reports, blog posts, and white papers on the future uses and requirements of enterprise networking broadly, and for AI/ML use cases specifically. You will play a defining role in developing an understanding of future enterprise telecommunication needs and communicating that understanding internally and externally. Experience in conducting first-party research and excellent writing skills are essential; experience in economics, business, and/or computer science/engineering is desirable. The Main ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain a research plan grounded in Lumen’s strategy and technological realitiesExecute research, leveraging internal and external resources as appropriate, to develop insights and confirm or refute hypotheses about the changing nature of technology, business, government/public sector, entertainment, and sociocultural norms and their resulting impact on networking requirementsSynthesize research findings into research papers, blogs/articles, and other products meant for both technical and non-technical audiencesEffectively collaborate with Lumen product, engineering, marketing, and communications teams, among othersMonitor technological innovations and macro-trends, collaborate and share with researchers at other organizationsWhat We Look For in a CandidateMaster's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Economics, Business, or related field; PhD preferredExtensive experience in academic-style research planning, execution, and communicationStrong data analysis skillsEffective communication with senior teams (technical and non-technical) and excellent writing skills for a variety of audiencesStrategic thinking, an interest in business, and a thirst for what comes nextSelf-motivated and proactivePreferred Qualifications:PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Economics, Business, or related fieldExperience in technology industriesExperience in B2B environmentsCompensationThis information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.Location Based Pay Ranges$152,066 - $202,755 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
