As one of the fastest-growing women’s health platforms in the U.S., Allara is bridging long-overlooked gaps in healthcare for women.The OpportunityAllara is hiring a Mobile Engineer to build the native iOS and Android experiences that connect 60,000+ patients to expert, longitudinal care for hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health. You'll own significant pieces of our mobile platform end-to-end, working across a shared architecture that spans both native codebases. This is a high-ownership role where you'll partner closely with product, design, and backend engineers to ship features that directly shape the patient experience and care journey.Location: Hybrid (NYC). We value in-person collaboration and aim for at least three days per week in our NYC office, with flexibility as needed.Your ImpactDesign, build, and ship features across our native iOS and Android apps, contributing to a shared mobile architectureBring deep expertise in your primary platform (iOS or Android) while actively growing into the other, raising the bar across both codebasesPartner with product, design, and backend engineers to translate patient-care goals into thoughtful, performant mobile experiencesDrive architectural direction of our mobile platform, including patterns for shared logic, state management, networking, and offline behaviorChampion mobile quality through code review, testing practices, performance profiling, and pragmatic technical decision-makingHelp integrate AI and LLM-powered features into the mobile experience, identifying opportunities to improve patient engagement and care deliveryOwn features end-to-end, from scoping through launch, instrumentation, and iteration based on real user dataStay close to the patient experience by collaborating with clinical and operations stakeholders to understand how the app fits into the broader care journey Required Qualifications4+ years of professional mobile engineering experience shipping production features in a native iOS or Android appDeep expertise in either Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android), with a strong grasp of platform conventions, lifecycle, and toolingDemonstrated willingness and desire to work across both platforms, contributing meaningfully to your non-primary platform over timeProficiency consuming RESTful APIs and working with backend engineers on contract design, error handling, and authentication flowsProven track record of delivering complex mobile features from scope through launch, including App Store / Play Store release managementStrong sense of ownership, a bias toward action, and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced, evolving environmentPreferred QualificationsHands-on production experience across both iOS and Android, or a track record of ramping into a second platform quicklyExperience contributing to or designing shared mobile architectures (e.g., shared data models and networking layers, modularization, feature flagging)Background in healthcare, telehealth, or another regulated industry (HIPAA-aware environments a plus)Experience integrating LLM-powered or AI-driven features into mobile apps, including streaming responses, on-device inference, or agentic patternsExperience working with Google Health Connect or Apple HealthKitExperience scaling mobile codebases or release processes at a high-growth startupWhat Allara OffersCompensation & Career Growth$162,000-$189,000 with opportunities for advancementEquityProfessional development & employee learning programsActual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: candidate experience, location, education, certifications, and skill set.
