Discover your story with Adaptive.Position OverviewThe Senior Information Security Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and owning the security systems and controls across Adaptive’s environment. This role focuses on developing scalable, effective solutions that reduce risk and improve the organization’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond to threats.This role is expected to build and own security capabilities end-to-end from initial design through production operation and continuous improvement.As part of the Information Security team, this role partners closely with Security Operations and is responsible for building and improving the systems they rely on. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can operate across domains, work with imperfect data, and drive practical improvements in a dynamic environment.Key Responsibilities and Essential FunctionsSecurity Engineering & Control ImplementationDesign, implement, and improve security controls across cloud, endpoint, and application environmentsEvaluate and integrate security tools and technologies to improve coverage and effectivenessIdentify gaps in existing controls and drive remediationOwn control effectiveness and continuously improve based on real-world outcomesDetection & TelemetryOwn and improve detection logic across key security systems in partnership with Security OperationsCo-own detection signal quality with Security Operations, continuously refining signal, reducing noise, and eliminating blind spotsDesign and maintain security telemetry pipelines, including log ingestion, normalization, and data qualityImprove logging and visibility across systems to enable effective detection and responseSecure Development & System IntegrationPartner with engineering teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycleDefine and implement security requirements for applications, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelinesSupport secure design and architecture decisions through practical implementationAutomation & ToolingBuild automation and integrations to improve the scalability and efficiency of security operationsLeverage scripting and APIs to reduce manual work and improve consistencyDevelop systems that enrich, correlate, and operationalize security dataContinuous ImprovementUse insights from incidents, vulnerabilities, and operational metrics to improve security systems and controlsContribute to evolving security standards, engineering practices, and technical directionPosition RequirementsBachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent practical experienceHands-on experience building and implementing security controls or systems in cloud, SaaS, or modern infrastructure environmentsExperience working with structured or semi-structured data and building systems that process and analyze that dataExperience in one or more of the following areas: detection engineering, security telemetry/logging, vulnerability management, endpoint security, or application securityStrong scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python), with experience building automation or data processing workflowsExperience working with APIs and integrating systemsExperience debugging and improving complex systems in production environmentsSolid understanding of security fundamentals (authentication, authorization, networking, common attack patterns)Ability to work cross-functionally and drive technical solutions in a dynamic environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience designing or implementing SIEM or logging pipelinesExperience improving vulnerability management programs beyond basic scanningFamiliarity with cloud environments and modern infrastructure patternsExperience in regulated environments, particularly medical devices or clinical laboratory (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001)Working ConditionsAdministrative work in a home/office environment.Regular weekday work hours, with occasional weekend/after-hours planned or unplanned work as needed.CompensationSalary Range: $128,700 - $193,100Other compensation elements include:equity grantbonus eligibleALERT: Malicious groups posing as Adaptive employees have recently used fraudulent email aliases to extend employment offers, provide fake documents, and request sensitive personal and financial information.
