**Job Type:** Freelance / Independent Contractor **Location:** Remote (California workers’ compensation experience required) **Compensation:** Competitive hourly or per\-report compensation, based on experience About the Role We are seeking an experienced Medical\-Legal Report Editor to support a California psychiatric Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) practice. The ideal candidate has experience editing California workers’ compensation medical\-legal reports, understands psych QME/AME terminology and structure, and can preserve physician voice while improving report clarity, organization, consistency, and completeness. This is an excellent opportunity for a former QME editor, med\-legal transcriptionist, workers’ compensation legal assistant, or medical\-legal coordinator with strong psychiatric and California WC familiarity. Responsibilities * Edit psychiatric QME/AME reports for grammar, formatting, clarity, and consistency * Preserve physician voice and medico\-legal reasoning * Review reports for internal consistency between: * history * records review * mental status examination * diagnoses * causation/apportionment analysis * conclusions/recommendations * Ensure reports are professionally formatted and legally coherent * Identify missing sections, contradictions, or incomplete statements for physician review * Organize and proofread reports generated from Dragon dictation and/or transcription * Maintain strict HIPAA/confidentiality standards * Meet report turnaround deadlines consistently Preferred Qualifications * Prior experience editing California QME, AME, IME, or SIBTF reports * Familiarity with California workers’ compensation terminology and workflows * Understanding of: * causation * apportionment * psychiatric med\-legal language * permanent disability/work restrictions terminology * Experience with psychiatric or forensic psychiatry reports strongly preferred * Strong English grammar, proofreading, and formatting skills * Experience working with physicians directly * Comfortable using Microsoft Word, tracked changes, templates, and secure file\-sharing systems * Experience with Dragon dictation/transcription workflows preferred Ideal Backgrounds We are especially interested in candidates with backgrounds such as: * QME/AME report editor * Medical\-legal transcriptionist * Workers’ compensation legal assistant * Med\-legal practice coordinator * Forensic psychiatry support staff To Apply Please submit: * Resume or relevant experience * Brief description of your medical\-legal/QME experience * Typical turnaround time * Hourly or per\-report rates * Optional: sample of de\-identified editing work California workers’ compensation and/or psych med\-legal experience is strongly preferred**.** Job Types: Full\-time, Part\-time, Contract Pay: $25\.89 \- $50\.00 per hour Benefits: * Flexible schedule * Professional development assistance Experience: * Workers' compensation: 1 year (Required) * Med\-legal report edi
