Scheduled Hours40Position SummaryPerforms follow-up on insurance billing and collection activities, verifying the accuracy and completeness of insurance records, and claims, contacting insurance companies as well as other related duties to expedite payments from various payers for physician services.Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities: Performs insurance follow-up billing and collection duties on various financial classifications to ensure timely and accurate payment of physician charges.Researches and resolves patient registration and coverage charge review edits and claim form edits.Reviews patient accounts to verify the accuracy of information including insurance, eligibility, invoice resolution, correspondence, remittances, requests for additional information, or other appropriate handling.Utilizes Epic, system tools, and payer websites for claim submission, claim status, attachments, eligibility, and authorization/referral inquiry. Consistently meets the Quality Assurance (QA) and meaningful efficiency standards of working invoices/accounts each day and follows best practices for one-touch resolution as established within the department. Supports and acts as a resource to others in the department regarding patient registration and coverages.Identifies and completes missing/incorrect patient registration and coverage information.Contacts guarantor/patient for accurate coverage information as needed. Corrects registration and/or coverage information.Utilizes electronic eligibility or contacts the payer by phone or website to verify eligibility and plan nuances. Accesses hospital registration systems to review registration and coverage information and review for accuracy and/or necessary corrections.Resubmits charges/claims and verifies all errors have been resolved and clean claim has dropped.Performs duties with adherence to timely filing deadlines and awareness of charge lag and lag time in work queue.Interacts with management and staff members to discuss issues.Acts as back-up support for the billing teamPerforms other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.Working Conditions:Job Location/Working Conditions:Normal office environment.Physical Effort:Typically sitting at a desk or table.Equipment:Office equipment.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
