Position Summary:University Information Services (UIS) provides enterprise technology services and application platforms to the University of Colorado’s four campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service, technical expertise, and the development of enterprise applications responsible for supporting CU’s students, faculty, human resources employees, finance employees, and others.The Principal Cloud Application Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for the design, development, and governance of enterprise cloud-based integration and messaging solutions within distributed computing environments. This position provides technical expertise across integration initiatives, translating complex business and system requirements into scalable, secure, and highly available software solutions that enable reliable data exchange among enterprise and campus applications.The role leads the planning and implementation of enterprise integration frameworks, event-driven and messaging solutions, and automated software delivery practices, ensuring adherence to established standards for security, performance, reliability, and operational readiness. Duties and Responsibilities:Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Platform Engineering, Delivery, Governance, and Technical Direction (60%)Plan, configure, deliver, and govern cloud-based integration, messaging, and software delivery platforms, including environment configuration, access control, monitoring, and operational readiness. Establish and enforce standards for reliability, performance, security, testing, and automated software delivery across enterprise platforms. Design and oversee CI/CD pipelines, quality assurance strategies, and DevOps practices to ensure consistent, secure, and efficient solution delivery. Provide technical direction by defining integration frameworks, guiding solution design decisions, and collaborating with stakeholders to integrate AI-enabled or data-driven services in alignment with enterprise governance and security standards.Enterprise Integration Design & Development (40%)Design, develop, and support enterprise application integration solutions within cloud-based and distributed environments.
