We live our values every day, demonstrating we CARE through our values, Sustainability initiatives and inclusive corporate culture.Our Personal Lines Actuarial team is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our growing team in Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters, or remote work location.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Actuarial Analyst role within the Personal Lines Actuarial state pricing team is responsible for supporting the ongoing analysis of results for all personal lines of business in 1-3 states. The personal lines state pricing team supports lines of business that comprise roughly $2.5B in annual earned premium.As an Actuarial Analyst, you will perform tasks of mathematical and quantitative nature using established procedures, working under immediate supervision. You will learn fundamental actuarial concepts, practices and procedures. You will have opportunities to collaborate with and present your work to internal business partners. You will also become familiar with company operations, systems and actuarial methodologies. All of this while actively pursuing your professional actuarial designation with the support of our Actuarial program.This is a Full-time, Exempt role.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Acquire knowledge of basic actuarial concepts and methods pertinent to area of actuarial focusObtain proficiency in the various software applications required to perform daily workBecome comfortable with company data structure and definitionsCompile and categorize data and prepare exhibitsPrepare and/or assist in the preparation of system specifications to implement required rate actionsWork on maintenance of rules and rating factors according to a rate review schedule, loss development analysis in support of rate indications, and pricing models to produce more accurate and better segmented individual risk pricingProvide actuarial support on routine insurance department inquiries as neededEffectively communicate technical analysis to business partners and upper managementBuild relationships within and across functional areasCollaborate effectively with team members and business partners in the completion of tasksWHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:Bachelor’s DegreeZero to two years of experience in the actuarial or related discipline.One or more Casualty Actuarial Exams.Experience with modeling, coding, and using Microsoft Office, Excel preferred.Understands fundamental analytical concepts, practices and procedures.Familiar with external agencies that influence and/or impact core actuarial discipline.Performs assigned tasks using established procedures and working under immediate supervision.Instructed on most assignments and refers unusual situations to a more experienced team member or supervisor.Openness to Learning - Expands knowledge base through traditional and non-traditional education to improve personal skills and abilities.Analytical Thinking - Applies analytical techniques, e.g., separating a complex whole into its parts or elements to resolve problems or issues.Teamwork - Fosters an environment where individuals collaborate in pursuit of a common goal internally and externally to the team.Thoroughness - Demonstrates careful attention to detail.
