Job Description

Norwalt Automation Group is looking for a **part\-time Technical Write**r to help create and improve manuals, service documentation, work instructions, and training materials for our custom automation machinery. This role will start primarily in\-house at our Randolph, NJ facility so the person can learn our machines, understand how our engineering and service teams work, and gather accurate information directly from the floor. Once the person is up to speed, some remote flexibility may be available. This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys technical writing, machinery, organization, and using modern tools, including AI, to make documentation clearer, faster, and more consistent. **Key Responsibilities** * Create and update operator manuals, service manuals, installation instructions, and quick\-reference guides * Work with engineers, service technicians, project managers, and assembly teams to gather technical information * Observe machinery, tools, and processes in person to understand how systems operate * Convert complex technical information into clear, accurate, easy\-to\-follow documentation * Edit and standardize existing manuals for consistency, formatting, clarity, and accuracy * Help organize and maintain a structured documentation library * Assist with internal work instructions, SOPs, training materials, and customer\-facing service documents * Use Microsoft Word and other documentation tools to create professional, well\-formatted documents * Use AI tools appropriately to assist with drafting, formatting, summarizing, organizing, and improving technical content while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality **Qualifications** * 3\+ years of technical writing experience preferred * Experience in manufacturing, automation, machinery, engineering, or industrial equipment strongly preferred * Strong Microsoft Word skills required, including formatting, styles, tables, headers, footers, and document organization * Good working knowledge of AI tools and how to use them responsibly to assist with writing and documentation * Ability to understand technical processes, machine operation, tools, and equipment * Ability to read or interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, layouts, photos, and technical notes is a plus * Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills * Comfortable asking questions and working with technical subject matter experts * Detail\-oriented, accurate, and able to manage multiple documentation projects **Work Schedule** * Part\-time role, estimated at 15–20 hours per week * Initial work will be primarily onsite in Randolph, NJ * Flexible schedule may be available after training and once the person understands our equipment and documentation needs About Norwalt Norwalt Automation Group designs and builds high\-speed custom automation machinery for the consumer goods, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries.
