Join us in building the future.The RoleThe Data Architect for Lumen’s System Excellence function within STEPN Business Operations is responsible for owning and driving the data strategy for all business operations processes and supporting systems/tools. This role is central to our shift toward a product‑based operating model in which a unified, consistent data language is spoken across operations, and involves collaborating with Operations, Product, Development / Engineering, Architecture, and other stakeholders to create a comprehensive canonical data model and best practices approach for data management, likely to include establishing and implementing a Master Data Management (MDM) solution.Key responsibilities include translating business needs into data needs, aligning business processes and systems design to support those needs, and then maximizing the value realized from the data throughout the operational lifecycle. Additionally, the Data Architect is tasked with supporting the implementation and maturation of systems and tools that adhere to data standards and leading data governance across multiple operations functions. The Data Architect will operate as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data architecture, management, and governance for the STEPN Business Operations organization.This is a highly collaborative, high‑impact position where you’ll help shape the direction of our data ecosystem. You’ll engage across the organization, drive transformation, and play a key role in defining how data supports our business going forward. If you’re excited by the opportunity to build something transformative from the ground up, come join us.LocationThis is a remote opportunity open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.The Main ResponsibilitiesOwn and drive data strategy for all data generated and used in STEPN business operations, including product management, program management, Agile work delivery, and financial managementTranslate business needs into data needs and drive data architecture within business process and system design efforts, including Aha!, Clarity, Jira, and othersDesign, develop, and maintain canonical data model in support of STEPN business operationsIdentify, implement, and apply the appropriate level of Master Data Management (MDM) principles and a supporting solution into the STEPN Business Operations technology ecosystemPartner closely with operations, application, and reporting teams to ensure data alignment and maximize value throughout the operational lifecycleLead data governance and establish best practices that ensure data quality, standardization, and complianceMentor team members and influence stakeholders to promote data awareness and improve organizational maturitySelect and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support the data strategyOversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, and supporting interfaces to ensure data qualityAddress data-related problems in regard to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integrationWhat We Look For in a CandidateRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experienceExperience building data models and performing complex queriesExperience implementing Master Data Management (MDM) practices and solutionsExperience with product management and program management disciplines, as well as Agile delivery methodologyExperience working with Aha!, Clarity, and JiraExperience with SAP, Oracle, and/or other enterprise level financial systems and toolsPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skillsRelevant industry experience working with and/or within the communications and/or high-tech sector(s)CompensationThis information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.
