Job Description SummaryThe Outage Manager is responsible for preparation, planning, leading execution, and close out of complex planned/emergent Outage events for steam turbine and generator outages while supporting the development of the business strategy for field fulfilment excellence in GE Steam Power. The OM is a focal role, with accountability for driving consistent outage planning and execution, and adoption of best practices and lessons learned. Will lead complex outages for their assigned territory or location(s) wherever possible.Job DescriptionSuccess in this role looks like:Establish yourself as a subject matter expert by demonstrating ability to plan and execute outages and projects with excellence in safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC) along with high customer satisfaction.You will be an indispensable team member and leader, with excellent steam turbine and generator maintenance planning knowledge and ability to manage complex steam turbine and generator outages outages.Who You Are:You are someone who brings strong field engineering, technical direction, and or outage management knowledge on steam turbines and generators.You have experience with GE, Alstom, and other manufacturers industrial steam turbines and generators.Your Role:Support CSM in all outage event preparation and execution (Planned/Emergent/Upgrade) from start to finish, including outage schedule development, TFA/craft labor/tooling/cost planning, customer management - pre/post outage meetings, mobilization planning, JCE execution, and event close outOwn onsite execution (site lead) with large teams during assigned outages, ensuring SQDC requirements are met.Manage on job cost tracking, productivity, while managing execution risk/FMEA Drive improvement of on-time delivery, outage cost and productivity, implementation, effectively update and maintain accurate tracking files, control man hour cost and pacingSupport project quotation development including work scope, site condition check, preliminary safety and risk analysis to identify potential issues or obstacles and to minimize cost impact for site executionSupport customer operations team during shut-down, start-up, running and performance testing of turbine, generator and auxiliary systems as requiredEnsure proper execution documentation is prepared, used, reviewed, stored and delivered including, Field Procedures, Quality Procedures, EHS, and Customer Outage ReportsWork with web systems applications for proper allocation, preparation, planning and forecasting of labor, tooling, vendor managementRespond to forced outages/emergency promptly, be on site when needed, investigate/escalate site issues to restore the units to operating conditions in a timely mannerSupport Customer Service Manager on technical communication to customer staff during outage executionActively work to improve and optimize existing processes and look for simplification opportunitiesAbility and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments Ability and willingness to travel 30%+ of the timeMay be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our Steam Power strategies and align with our organization’s core values.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Science/engineering or equivalent 4 years of experience in power generation industry; OR 8+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge on steam turbine or generator maintenance and 3+ years of specialized/industry experience of gas/steam turbine generator & auxiliary system outage planning and execution ( ie Field Engineering, Technical Direction, Outage Management).English proficiency requiredDesired Qualifications:Strong Project Management and planning skills (Primavera scheduling tool preferred)PC proficiency, web applications including advanced Excel skillsAble to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customersDemonstrated verbal and written communication skills and influencing skillStrong technical and maintenance knowledge of gas/steam turbines and generatorsStrong team leader in dynamic, energetic and complex customer site environmentsAbility to work under high pressure and constraint time, committed and process orientedAbility to work multiple project simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional teamAbility to influence stakeholders to deliver customer and business needsGE/GEV Field Engineering Program (FEP) graduate Additional InformationGE Vernova offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
