As leaders in the generation, analysis, and communication of that evidence, we are improving market access and supporting our clients in their mission of improving care for patients around the world.The Medical Director is responsible for leading content development for multiple projects and providing input on strategy while working cross-functionally and with a high level of independence. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring high quality regarding content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, consistency, and adherence to regulatory and internal guidelines, styles, and processes.Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:Independently develop strategic, high-quality, and medically accurate content for a wide range of medical communications resources for a medium-sized book of business (generally 3 – 4 assigned accounts but varies based on size) which span multiple therapeutic areasCollaborate with internal team members to create compelling content that meets client objectivesReview project briefs and timelines, assign staff, and attend all kick-off meetingsReview content for scientific accuracy and appropriateness to the projectEnsure best practices for content development are followed and advise on strategic or client considerationsLiaise directly with client on strategy and content-related subject matter including medical, legal, regulatory review meetingsDiscuss medical content with external stakeholders including medical professionals, key opinion leaders, and managed care customers as requiredPlan and allocate resources based on business needs in conjunction with other internal stakeholdersSupervise 2 – 4 medical writers and/or scientific associates directlyEstablish and track individual personal development plans for each team member and provide timely feedbackAssist in development of new business proposals including target product profiles (TPPs) and/or competitive analysesAttend and present at business pitch meetings as neededPromote and adhere to Precision Value and Health’s workplace values known as PRECISION Principles (Client Service, Purpose, Accountability, Mutual Respect and Collaboration)Required Education:BA/BS in life sciencesBA/BS in English combined with experience in a pharmaceutical agency, medical communications company or healthcare advertisingRequired Experience:5 – 7 years of experience in the medical communication, pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industryRequired Skills:Command of American Medical Association (AMA) styleStrong proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe AcrobatStrong proficiency with scientific search engines including PubMed and Google ScholarRequired Competencies:Strong written and verbal communicationHigh analytic abilityStrong self-management, organizational, and time managementAbility to translate complex scientific concepts for a variety of managed care audiencesAbility to prioritize deadline-sensitive projects and juggle competing client prioritiesHighly team- and detail-orientedPreferred Education: Advanced degree in life sciences (PharmD or PhD)Preferred Qualifications:Expertise in gathering, evaluating, and summarizing healthcare business and scientific literature and insights data for a variety of managed care audiencesWorking knowledge of managed markets, healthcare, and the healthcare delivery system; health reform legislation; and/or managed care experience (HMO, MCO, PBM, etc.)Ability to develop engaging promotional contentManaged care experiencePrecision is required by law in some states or cities to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
