Job Description
Demand-side management (DSM) experience is required for this position, which can include experience with energy auditing or energy advising in the commercial, industrial or residential space.Power TakeOff is seeking an Energy Advisor II to recruit and engage business, institutional, and commercial customers where energy savings opportunities have been identified through email and phone calls. This position requires sales and account management skills including cold calling, customer meeting facilitation and the ability to communicate energy efficiency concepts to drive energy savings.Someone who has an engaging virtual presence, is excited about leveraging technical energy efficiency material and can maintain an organized pipeline will enjoy this position. We deliver cost-effective solutions for over 25 utilities across North America.Position SummaryEnergy Advisors are vital to the success of the Virtual Commissioning® (VCx®) Program, designed and implemented by Power TakeOff. Energy Advisors provide recommendations and remote support for participants to implement energy saving actions. After the participant has implemented the recommended changes, Energy Advisors monitor their smart meter data and work with our internal Measurement and Verification (M&V) team to confirm the energy savings.Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Client Relationship ManagementOwns their own pipeline and accounts end-to-end, strengthening long-term account managementManages a larger and more complex portfolio, yielding more kWh savingsBuilds and maintains strong client relationships, adapting outreach strategies to different customer types and needsLeads client meetings, representing the company confidently and answering questions accuratelyEffectively manages their pipeline, keeping stages up to date and notes on all accountsManages client expectations independentlyData AnalysisIndependently analyzes data to prioritize tasks and make decisions within their portfolioUses data to prioritize accounts, adjust approach, and track savings goalsEffectively explains how metrics inform their decisionsConfidently uses data to make recommendations for the most common facility typesUses data and prioritization to increase efficiency and drive stronger resultsTeam Improvement & EngagementIdentifies areas for continuous improvement in the EA role or within processesIndependently troubleshoots common issues and finds solutions, acting as a “go-to” within their pod for informal guidanceParticipates in regular knowledge-sharing to support their pod’s successParticipates in team discussions and helps build a positive team environmentDemonstrates reliability and accountability for their workStrategizes on how to accomplish their own goals to support team successDemonstrates persistence and resiliency in the face of challengesAdapts to change professionally and effectivelyKey QualificationsPrior DSM experience such as energy auditing or energy advising in the commercial, industrial or residential space2+ years of professional experience, preferably in sales or business development6+ months of experience engaging with prospective participants via cold calls, emails and meetings 6+ months of experience working with prospective businesses to collaboratively problem solve and implement energy saving actionsExperience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems (e.g. Salesforce, Outreach.io) and other software tools to effectively organize and manage a customer engagement pipeline and support tracking and reporting to maintain organized internal records Experience with analysis and data interpretation to identify and solve problems Knowledge of energy efficiency concepts and applicationEffective sales skills and motivation to achieve goalsAbility to develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleaguesConsistently positive and professional communications, even under pressureSelf-motivated with a strong work ethicAbility to work in a remote team environment, offering support and willingness to receive and provide feedback to achieve shared goalsExceptional oral and written communication skills Bilingual abilities are a plusLocation and TravelPower TakeOff is a 100% virtual company with no physical office location.
