The ideal candidate blends deep operational expertise with strong software engineering instincts, partnering closely with engineering, security, and product stakeholders to design and operate the platform that powers identity verification for customers around the world.You will improve and develop infrastructure and reliability across the full product lifecycle, from architecture and provisioning through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. You will ensure every service is observable, performant, and resilient, and that the team has the automation, tooling, and guardrails it needs to ship quickly and safely.Security and compliance are central to this role. Because Vouched handles sensitive personal and identity data, we expect you to treat security, privacy, and regulatory compliance as first-class, non-negotiable requirements in every system you build. You will be a key partner in maintaining and advancing our compliance posture across frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc. and embedding security controls, least-privilege access, encryption, and auditability directly into our infrastructure rather than bolting them on later.You should be someone who is deep into the details, who partners with teammates to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. We expect our Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer to foster a culture of shared accountability around operational excellence and security by leading incident response, facilitating open conversations about risk, and working with the team to eliminate toil and resolve issues before they reach customers.A critical component of this role is the fluent use of modern AI-powered tooling to accelerate infrastructure and platform work. You will be expected to leverage tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, and similar platforms, to rapidly produce infrastructure-as-code, automation, runbooks, and tooling. We expect AI-accelerated workflows that turn operational knowledge into reproducible, well-tested, and secure automation rather than manual, one-off operations. The ability to use AI tools to scaffold pipelines, draft Terraform modules, accelerate incident triage, and build internal tooling that engineering can rely on is essential and not optional.Experience working with distributed teams, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a bias toward action are essential. While knowledge of AI-based identity verification products is a plus, a passion for working with innovative technologies and helping to scale a dynamic team is key.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and operate cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) using infrastructure-as-code, with an emphasis on repeatability, security, and cost efficiency.Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines. Automated integration and unit testing, provisioning, deployments, and rollbacks to keep delivery fast and safe.Build and maintain observability across the platform, including monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and meaningful dashboards that surface issues before customers do.Improve and advance our security posture: secrets management, encryption in transit and at rest, IAM and least-privilege access, network segmentation, and vulnerability management across all infrastructure.Drive compliance readiness by partnering with security and leadership to maintain, automate, and provide evidence for controls
