City Cast is looking for a talented, detail-oriented producer to join the team behind Your City Could Be Better, our weekly podcast that brings together voices mostly from across the City Cast network to explore how our cities can work better for everyone. The ideal candidate is a skilled audio and video producer who is passionate about local news and civic life, has a sharp editorial eye, and knows how to keep a complex, multi-city production running smoothly. This is a role for someone who is as comfortable in the edit suite as they are coordinating schedules and building relationships with journalists and community members from coast to coast.Application Due: April 20,2026Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & CoordinationManage scheduling and communication with podcast hosts across the City Cast network about their appearances on the showCommunicate episode prep expectations with city teams across the City Cast network, ensuring every guest arrives readyCoordinate the weekly pitch process: remind city teams of submission deadlines, send pitches to the show’s host for selection, and relay decisions back to the teamReview weekly interview prep and provide light editorial feedbackOccasionally vet pitches from listeners, including preinterviewing guests outside the City Cast networkProduce episode recordings in RiversideEdit episodes in Descript for editorial clarity and narrative flow, flagging potential social clips and noting cuts that will carry through to the video versionEdit podcast video in Adobe Premiere using AutopodEdit and mix audio in Adobe Creative Suite, applying Izotope effects for professional, polished soundWrite and finalize show notes and episode title options, adapting both for each of the 14 city feedsCreate episode thumbnails in Canva, including sourcing screenshots from Riverside, removing backgrounds, and building out the graphicUpload and schedule each episode to the CityCastUSA YouTube channel, including thumbnail, title, show notes, and playlist managementSchedule each episode across 14 distinct Megaphone feeds weekly, customizing titles for each feed with careful attention to detailConduct a final QC listen-through of the audio version and a review of the YouTube upload before each episode goes liveSocial Media & DistributionCreate social clips from podcast episodes for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram, and FacebookWrite compelling captions and apply thoughtful tagging strategy tailored to each platformHandle all video editing for social content, optimizing format and pacing for each channelCommunity & Audience EngagementServe as the primary point of contact for Your City Could Be Better listeners through our dedicated email account and social channelsEngage and activate our audience across platforms, fostering a community of people who care deeply about their citiesRequirementsWhat We’re Looking For3+ years of experience in audio and/or video production, ideally in a podcast, news, or media environmentProficiency with Riverside, Descript, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with Autopod and Izotope effects is a strong plusA strong editorial sense — you know when an interview is working and how to shape a story for maximum impactGenuine enthusiasm for local news and civic affairs; you believe cities matter and love stories about how they workSolid research and fact-checking skillsExperience producing and editing social video content across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and FacebookExcellent communication and organizational skills — you’re the kind of person who stays on top of many moving pieces across multiple teams without breaking a sweatExperience working with distributed or remote teams a plusBenefitsThis is a part-time, fully remote role averaging 20 hours per week. The hourly rate is $38/hr – $48/hr, depending on experience.
