Automation Tester

**About the role** S2 Technovations is hiring a Test Automation Engineer for IRS modernization work. You'll automate testing for the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS), the system IRS employees use to research and update taxpayer accounts, and for the web applications connected to it. The role combines hands\-on Playwright work with transaction\-level testing of IDRS command codes, all on synthetic test data under IRS security and privacy rules. An active IRS MBI is required. What you'll do * Build and maintain end\-to\-end test suites in Playwright (TypeScript or Python) using page objects, fixtures, and reusable components * Automate IDRS command code transactions through green\-screen terminal emulation, checking inputs, screen responses, and error messages * Validate data end to end, from web front ends through IDRS to Master File posting, including transaction codes and processing cycles * Build regression and smoke suites that support IRS test types, including Systems Acceptability Testing (SAT) and Final Integration Testing (FIT) * Run suites in CI/CD with parallel execution, traces, and screenshots, and keep them fast and stable * Create and manage synthetic test data and test TINs; use live taxpayer data only under an approved SBU data request * Test the APIs and services behind IDRS\-connected applications * Run Section 508 accessibility checks with axe\-core and manual screen\-reader testing * Record test cases, results, and requirements traceability in IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM), and log defects in IRWorks * Work on Agile teams under the IRS One Solution Delivery Lifecycle (OneSDLC) with developers, analysts, and IRS test leads Required * Active IRS MBI (Minimum Background Investigation) * 5\+ years of software test automation, including 2\+ years of hands\-on Playwright * Strong TypeScript/JavaScript or Python * Experience testing mainframe or green\-screen applications, or web apps built on top of them * CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps) and Git * API testing, plus SQL for back\-end data validation * Writing test plans, test cases, and defect reports on Agile teams * Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience Preferred * Hands\-on IDRS experience with research command codes (IMFOL, BMFOL, TXMOD, SUMRY, ENMOD, INOLE, RTVUE) and update command codes (ACTON, REQ54/ADJ54, STAUP) * IRS tax processing knowledge: Individual and Business Master File (IMF/BMF), transaction codes, and Document 6209 * Unpostable (GUF) or Error Resolution System (ERS) testing, including UPTIN, UPDIS, and UPRES * Green\-screen automation (Unisys UTS or IBM 3270 emulation) with HLLAPI, UFT One, Tosca, or Python/Java terminal libraries * IRS testing practice: SAT, FIT, OneSDLC (formerly ELC), IBM ELM (ETM, EWM, DNG), and IRWorks * DHS Trusted Tester certification for Section 508 * Performance testing with JMeter or LoadRunner * Migrating Selenium or Cypress suites to Playwright
