Job Description
We're building a robotics venture focused on task\-optimized mechanical design — legged, aquatic, aerial, and other biologically\-inspired forms — rather than defaulting to humanoid architecture. We're looking for a PhD\-level roboticist with deep expertise in bio\-inspired locomotion, soft robotics, or biomimetic actuation to join our advisory board.
**What you'd do:**
* Advise on mechanical design philosophy and form\-factor selection for early\-stage prototypes
* Review technical roadmaps and flag research gaps or promising directions
* Occasional introductions within your professional network (labs, talent, collaborators) where relevant
* No day\-to\-day operational involvement expected
**Time commitment:** Fully remote/virtual. Approximately 1 week (cumulative) per year — flexible scheduling around a handful of advisory calls and periodic async review.
**Compensation:** $15,000 \- $20,000 per year
**Who we're looking for:**
* PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or closely related field
* Research or industry background in bio\-inspired/biomimetic robotics — legged locomotion, soft robotics, underwater/aquatic robotics, or flapping\-wing/aerial biomimetics
* Comfortable engaging with an early\-stage company outside a traditional academic or corporate structure
* Location: fully open, anywhere globally
**To apply:** Please share your CV/publication list and a brief note on your relevant research background.
Pay: $15,000\.00 \- $20,000\.00 per year
Benefits:
* Flexible schedule
Work Location: Remote
