This, in turn, creates a lasting impact on the world around us.Job DescriptionAs a Controls Design Engineer - BMS, you will be joining a growing team of Electrical and Control System Engineers, Control System Integration Engineers, and Technicians. This position is responsible for designing instrumentation and control systems for Data Centers. Projects range from high‑level conceptual designs to detailed site designs and retrofits, factory witness testing of equipment, and construction administration and verification. This role will communicate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines, teams, subconsultants, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure Data Center Building Management Systems (BMS) are properly designed and constructed. You will be responsible for managing assigned tasks including BMS system design, specifications, and drawings. Occasional travel to project sites may be required for meetings, data collection, and construction support.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead the selection and specification of:Process instrumentationProgrammable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) equipment or (DDC) Direct Digital ControlsDevelop and approve control system (BMS) sequences of operationsManage assigned BMS design tasks including scope, schedule, and qualityPerform technical review and approval of instrumentation and control system deliverablesReview submittals, conduct field inspections, and verify compliance with design intentIndependently analyze and resolve complex technical problems within the engineer’s disciplineAct as technical lead, supervisor, and resource to the design teamTrain, mentor, and support the education and professional development of staffParticipate in the preparation, review, and approval of RFP response content and pricingDemonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, organization, flexibility, and collaborationPerform other duties as assignedTravel to project site visits as needed, roughly 15-35%QualificationsYou are passionate about:Working collaboratively with others.Having ownership in the work you do.Using your talents to positively affect communities.Solving complex technical problems and training others to do the sameContinuously growing professionally and contributing to the engineering communityYou bring to the team:Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussionsAbility to independently resolve complex problems within the engineering discipline6+ years of experience designing BMS or control systemsAttention to and passion for detail, quality, and system reliabilityExperience acting as a technical resource or supervisor to design teamsAbility to support staff education, mentoring, and professional developmentParticipation in proposal development, including RFP technical content and pricing supportProfessional Engineering (PE) license preferredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferredWillingness to actively participate in the engineering and professional community (seminars, conferences, publications)The typical annual salary range for this role is as listed below. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, and qualifications.
