As a Senior PHP Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling high-performance backend systems. You will take ownership of complex technical solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure the delivery of secure, robust, and maintainable code aligned with fintech industry standards.This opportunity is open to candidates from offshore countries. Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using PHP (8.x) and modern frameworks (Laravel or Symfony).Architect robust, secure, and high-performing solutions aligned with fintech standards.Build and maintain REST APIs, ensuring proper versioning and backward compatibility.Optimize database performance (MySQL/MariaDB), including query tuning, schema design, and migrations.Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (Docker).Ensure code quality through testing strategies (unit, integration, feature tests) and code reviews.Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture in everyday development.Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.Enforce security best practices (OWASP, secure authentication flows, data protection, GDPR compliance).Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and technical guidance.Contribute to technical decision-making, challenge requirements constructively, and promote best practices.REQUIREMENTS5+ years of professional experience in software developmentExpert-level knowledge of PHP 8.x and modern development practices5+ years of experience with Laravel or Symfony, including deep framework understandingStrong experience with MySQL or MariaDB (query optimization, schema design, normalization)Solid understanding of REST API design principlesProficiency with Git (branching strategies, code reviews, release workflows)Experience with PHPUnit and defining test strategiesHands-on experience with Docker and containerized production environmentsStrong knowledge of caching strategies and performance optimizationExperience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub preferred)Solid understanding of Composer and dependency managementComfortable working in Linux/CLI environmentsStrong understanding of security best practices in web applicationsSOFT SKILLSAbility to independently design and architect solutionsStrong problem-solving mindset with focus on maintainability and scalabilityConfidence to challenge requirements and propose better alternativesAbility to translate business needs into technical solutionsExperience leading initiatives or small teamsStrong written communication skills in async environmentsNICE TO HAVEExperience in fintech or financial services domainFrontend development skills (Vue.js or React)Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)Previous experience in technical interviewing or hiringWHAT WE OFFERSalary range: €4000 - €5500 (GROSS) / month.Fully remote work with flexible work hours and vacation policy.
