Texas Lifestyle Magazine (TLM) is looking forenthusiasticandcommittedstudents who are interested in learning more about working in a lifestyle magazine environment. TLM interns designate their weekly office hours and commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for 6 months. You’ll have the opportunity to be mentored by publishers and editors. The internship is unpaid, however, you may have the opportunity to earn college credit through your university. The editorial intern will be mentored and supervised by Marika Flatt (co-owner, associate editor, travel editor)

Self-starter with initiative and creativityPositive attitudeExceptional writing skillsExcellent communication skillsIndependently manage own workflowExcellent time management skillsYou will learn and assist as follows:EditorialWrite online magazine piecesResearch & pitch story ideas to online and print editorsSave images in dropbox and other stories when neededAssist Marika on gift guides and other stories when neededLocation scout for travel piecesEmail story links to PR firms that assist on storiesRequest samples and maintain sample request XL sheetCollaborate with social media intern with content posting/executionAdministrativeKeep travel PR XL list updated and sort as neededPlan & organize magazine eventsPackage & mail out giveaway itemsCollect and save images for stories when neededReach out to PR firms to get giveaway items as neededAssist for in-kind media sponsorship opportunities, getting them magazines, etc.Maintain and edit TLM Style GuideRedeem Groupon subscriptions and maintain subscription XL listMaintain and update Important Dates XL sheetAdditional projects as assignedFact check names, locations, websites, etc. for online contentIT Applications:GoogleApps for Business (gmail/Google docs/sheets)Mac or PC basic skillsWordpress(preferred, but not required)Sproutsocial(preferred, but not required)Internship Benefits:You can learn from and assist the TLM team from home (saves on commute time and gas).You manage your time and assist with projects when it is convenient for your schedule.You are able to shadow experienced professionals.You may be able to receive college credit for the internship.You are eligible to ask for perks such as tickets, meals, stays, etc. in order to write a story.Past Intern Praise
