Job Description

Blue Cloud CPA is a cross\-border accounting firm licensed in both the United States and Canada. Our clients live, work, and run businesses on both sides of the border: founders relocating, families with accounts in two countries, corporations expanding south or north. We're built differently from a traditional firm: heavily automated workflows handle most of the drafting and assembly inside a documented system of checklists and runbooks, the partner reviews and signs everything, and the whole practice runs on keeping that workflow moving cleanly. **The role** You're the person who keeps client work moving through the system. Not a classic preparer role and not an admin role: you operate the pipeline. **On a given day you will:** \- Work the client queue: bring client messages into our work system, review pre\-drafted replies against the client's actual facts, fix what needs fixing, and queue them for partner approval \- Drive client work sessions through their checklists: our systems analyze documents and produce the drafts, you keep things moving, verify outputs against source documents, and escalate anything that looks off \- File incoming client documents and keep every client's status record current \- Chase missing documents on a schedule \- Key completed returns into Drake Tax and tie the numbers back to source \- Close every working block with a short handoff: what's ready for review, what's blocked, what needs a decision You never send a final deliverable and you never sign. The partner reviews everything. Your job is that by the time work reaches review, it's complete, tied out, and honestly labeled. **Who does well here** \- Physically located in the United States (required: federal tax\-privacy rules restrict access to client tax information from outside the US, so this applies regardless of citizenship or work authorization) \- 2\-5 years in tax or accounting, enough experience that a wrong number registers as wrong on sight \- Genuine comfort with modern automation and drafting tools, including a healthy distrust of software output \- Checklist discipline: you follow documented procedures exactly, and you say so out loud when the procedure doesn't fit the situation \- Clear written English, comfortable working async \- PTIN, or willing to obtain one Nice to have: EA credential, cross\-border exposure (Canadian returns, foreign account reporting), Drake Tax, TaxDome. **Why this role is worth your time** You'll learn cross\-border tax, one of the highest\-value niches in the profession, from inside a firm that documents everything, and you'll work with a more modern operations stack in three months than most firms will show you in five years. Strong performance grows into more responsibility and, for the right person, a permanent position as the firm scales. **How to apply** Apply with a resume and answers to these three questions (applications without answers won't be considered): 1\. Describe a specific time s
