LINUX Systems Engineer

In this role you will perform production systems integration within a cutting-edge Linux based virtualization stack, streamline and secure applications, storage, physical servers, and install, troubleshoot and maintain customer hardware. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and skilled at making data-driven decisions to proactively address issues before they impact end users.Typical Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage the software, hardware, and systems on a Linux serverDesign, build, and maintain core services and infrastructureInstall and monitor Linux operating systemsImplement security measures and identify potential issuesUpdate security settings for enterprise firewallsAutomate vulnerability and security patchingParticipate in programming, scripting, and process automationDesign and manage backup and recovery strategiesRequired Skills and Experience5+ years of hands-on Linux Systems Engineering experienceSpecific experience in Python both with scripting and building applicationsSpecific experience using Bash for automating tasks and deploying software/servicesExperience installing and configuring VPN services (openvpn/wireguard/ipsec), firewalls (netfilter/NFTables), and networksExperience with information security frameworks such as disk encryption, PKI, Symmetric/Asymmetric encryption and digital certificatesExperience using observability tools and stack tracesExperience scripting and developing system automation toolsExperience with log analysis, monitoring, and alerting systemsKnowledge of TCP/IP addressing, routing, and troubleshootingKnowledge of directory service principles such as organization units, and realm authenticationFamiliarity with cloud provisioningKnowledge of modern configuration management tooling – specifically Ansible and SaltStackMinimum Secret Clearance with the ability to acquire a TS with SCI eligibilityPreferred QualificationsExperience specifically with Debian based distributionsExperience with virtual server implementation and managementAt Nightwing, we value collaboration and teamwork.
