Writer/Editor (Contract, Remote)

Stribe is a public health communications agency. We build campaigns that help people make healthier decisions — for clients including the Department of Veterans Affairs, SAMHSA, USDA, and state and community behavioral health agencies. Our work has covered suicide prevention, substance use, whole health, and vaccine confidence. We're looking for a Writer/Editor who can make complex health science clear, accurate, and human. You'll write for real people making real health decisions — not for journals, not for jargon. **What you'll do** * Write and edit fact sheets, brochures, video scripts, PSA copy, social media content, infographic text, and ad copy for public health campaigns * Translate technical and scientific source material into plain language that meets Plain Writing Act standards * Adapt tone and reading level for distinct audiences: older adults, parents and caregivers, pregnant women, healthcare providers, and people managing chronic conditions * Edit for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and house/client style; proofread final deliverables before client submission * Revise copy based on message testing results, subject matter expert review, and client feedback — often across multiple review rounds * Support rapid\-turnaround writing during urgent or emerging public health events **What we're looking for** * 3\+ years of professional writing and editing experience, with health, science, or medical content in your portfolio * Demonstrated plain\-language skills — you can show before/after examples of dense material made clear * Experience writing across formats: long\-form print, short\-form social, and scripts * Comfort incorporating feedback from scientists, reviewers, and clients without losing the message * Meticulous editing and proofreading; you catch what others miss **Nice to have** * Experience writing for federal health agencies or within federal clearance and review processes * Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements for written content * Script writing for video or audio PSAs * Bilingual English/Spanish, or experience preparing copy for translation * Background in health communication, journalism, or public health **Details** * Contract position; hours vary by project with potential for expanded or ongoing work * Fully remote; core availability during Eastern Time business hours * Writing samples or portfolio required with application Work Location: Remote
