Accounting Clerk

Description: The Accounting Clerk will ensure that the assigned day\-to\-day workflow is processed in a consistent and timely manner, attain cross\-functionality, and provide backup for other accounting functions. Requirements: **Essential Functions** * Record day\-to\-day financial transactions and complete the posting process. * Collect outstanding receivables through telephone and written communication daily. * Determine importance of issues learned from contact with customers and relay information to proper department for resolution. * Escalate overdue AR for additional collection efforts. * Analyze outstanding list and report to Supervisor with updated data. * Investigate and resolve issues interfering with the proper application of cash receipts, including inadequate (or missing) information on checks. * Provide follow up on identified issues and discrepancies. * Meet all daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines in the cash application process. * Prepare and interpret financial summaries and provide reports to management. * Verify and total accounts to ledgers and databases. * Maintain and generate reporting to identify delinquent accounts and other collection measurements. * Process journal entries and reconcile bank statements in comparison to general ledger. * Review and balance internal accounts, analyze variances, and prepare appropriate reports. **Education/Experience Required** * Associate’s or higher degree in accounting or related field strongly preferred * 5\+ years of proven accounting experience preferred **Skills Required** * Knowledge of basic financial and accounting principles * Natural proficiency with math * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail * Proficient in Microsoft Office with aptitude to learn new systems * Ability to use a phone, photocopier, computer, and other electronic business tools and related software.
