#### **Job Title: Web Designer (Docusaurus)**

Location: On\-site/Hybrid/Remote – Washington DC

Clearance / Background: Ability to successfully complete required federal background investigation (MUST BE A US CITIZEN)
#### **Position Overview**
We are seeking a Web Designer (Docusaurus) to support web properties and documentation portals for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining Docusaurus\-based websites that serve both Veterans and internal VA stakeholders.
You will work closely with product owners, content writers, developers, and UX stakeholders to create accessible, intuitive, and visually consistent web experiences that follow Section 508, WCAG, and federal branding guidelines.
This is a hands\-on role that blends UI/UX design, front\-end implementation, and documentation site structure/organization.
#### **Key Responsibilities:**
Docusaurus Site Design \& Maintenance
Design, configure, and maintain Docusaurus\-based documentation sites and portals.
Build and refine page layouts, sidebars, navigation, and content structure for clear content discovery.
Implement and maintain reusable page templates and component documentation pages (e.g., common UI components, onboarding guides, knowledge base articles).
#### **UI/UX \& Visual Design**
Create clean, responsive, and accessible UI layouts for documentation and informational sites.
Apply strong typography, color, spacing, and layout principles while aligning with VA and federal branding standards.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements and wireframes into production\-ready Docusaurus pages.
Accessibility \& Usability (Government/Federal Context)
Ensure all designs and implementations meet Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
Design with Veteran users and internal VA staff in mind, optimizing for clarity, readability, and ease of use.
Partner with product owners and QA to test for accessibility, responsiveness, and usability across devices and browsers.
Content Structure \& Information Architecture
Organize content into intuitive hierarchies, navigation menus, and documentation groupings.
Improve content discoverability through thoughtful site structure, naming conventions, and navigation flows.
Support content owners in migrating, updating, and refactoring existing documentation to align with new structures.
Collaboration \& Delivery in a Federal Environment
Work within federal processes, documentation requirements, and review cycles.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, design reviews, and stakeholder sessions.
Provide clear documentation and handoffs for changes to content, navigation, and UI patterns.
