The Ideal CandidateHighly motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering exceptional services and ensuring projects are completed accurately and on scheduleProactive team leader who understands how to motivate, direct, and manage the work of othersStrong communicator who effectively defines and prioritizes group objectives, trains and mentors individually and collectively, and contributes to a positive team dynamicDemonstrates initiative, self-sufficiency, and the ability to work productively from a home office without direct supervisionCommitted to continuous learning and process improvement, consistently seeking opportunities to enhance quality and efficiencyEmbraces new responsibilities and eagerly acquires new skill sets as needed to support evolving project demands.What you will be doing:Team and client managementLeading and managing a small, skilled team in power systems modeling and analytics for utility clientsMentoring and training less experienced engineers in power engineering theories and principlesWorking toward continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge and skills, and overall individual and team performanceProject management tasks such as forecasting, tracking hours, budgeting, milestones, scheduling meetings, delegating tasks, etcInteract with prospective clients to demonstrate ICF’s expertise and attract new businessDevelop scopes of work, project timelines, and budget estimatesParticipate in weekly meetings with clients to deliver project status updatesEngineering responsibilitiesCreate, revise, and maintain transmission short circuit models in programs like CAPE and ASPENCreate, revise, and maintain transmission power flow models in programs like PSSE and PSCADCreate, revise, and maintain distribution system modeling in programs like CYME, Synergi, and WindMilPerform Arc Flash analysis of facilities to calculate hazard ratingsAnalyze transmission line modeling based on LiDAR and 3D models in programs like PLS-CADDPerform voltage imbalance analysis in programs like PSCADCalculate thermal ampacity ratings for conductors and equipment according to standards such as FAC-008, FERC-881, and relevant IEEE standardsWrite thorough technical reports summarizing findings of analysesDevelop automation scripts to improve the efficiency and accuracy of any and all of the above tasks, using languages such as Python, SQL, and VBAWhat you need to have (minimum qualifications): BS in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or related field8+ years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles, i.e. transmission and distribution system modeling, short circuit and power flow analysis, arc flash hazard calculations, voltage imbalance studies, and/or thermal ampacity ratings5+ years of experience working at an electric utility, such as an investor-owned utility, municipal utility, or electric cooperativeWhat we’d like you to have (preferred qualifications): People management and mentorship experienceExperience directing and reviewing the work of others for quality assurance and delivering constructive feedbackKnowledge of the practical application of industry standards such as: IEEE, ANSI, NERC and FERC regulationsExperience in scripting in Python to automate analyses in power systems softwaresAbility to plan and manage assignments and clearly communicate barriers to complete tasks on budget/scheduleInitiative to embrace continuous learning toward becoming an expert on the programs and technology you representProficiency in computer software tools to model engineering problems, program automation systems, and preparing spreadsheet-based analyses and automationTo learn more about this team and how our grid engineering solutions help electric utilities balance cutting-edge technology with cost-efficiency and reliability >ICF Power Delivery Services#GEA25#POWERDELIVERY#INDEEDWorking at ICFICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we’re not your typical consultants.
