Contract Restaurant Accountant / Bookkeeper

About the Role We are seeking an experienced **Contract Accountant / Bookkeeper** to manage full\-cycle accounting for our standalone restaurant operating within a hotel property. The ideal candidate has experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO), restaurant accounting standards (Uniform System of Accounts for Restaurants), sales tax compliance, and payroll processing. Fully remote contractors may be considered DOE. Key Responsibilities ● **Full\-Cycle Bookkeeping:** Daily/weekly entry and coding of bank feed transactions, vendor invoices, credit card charges, and bill payments using **QuickBooks Online**. ● **POS \& Daily Sales Reconciliation:** Daily/weekly reconciliation of Point of Sale (POS) summary reports (cash, credit cards, delivery platforms, gift cards, house accounts/room charges) with bank deposits and QBO. ● **Hotel Lease Management:** Track and calculate weekly lease payments and monthly room ledger/house account settlements with hotel accounting. ● **Payroll Processing \& Oversight:** Process bi\-weekly payroll (including hourly wages, salaried personnel, tip allocations, and tip pooling adjustments) via third\-party payroll provider; post payroll journal entries to QBO. ● **Inventory \& Cost of Goods Sold (COGS):** Work with management to adjust food, beverage, and paper inventory levels; track Prime Cost (Food Cost \+ Beverage Cost \+ Labor Cost) accurately. ● **Financial Reporting \& Month\-End Close:** Complete month\-end reconciliations and prepare GAAP\-compliant monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit \& Loss Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, and Prime Cost analysis) by the 8th of each month. ● **Sales Tax \& Compliance:** Prepare and file monthly state/local sales and mixed beverage tax returns on time. Qualifications \& Experience ● **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience (5\+ years in full\-charge restaurant bookkeeping). ● **Software Expertise:** Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and third\-party integrations (e.g., Toast, Clover, Square, Restaurant365, Gusto, ADP). ● **Industry Experience:** Proven track record in restaurant hospitality accounting required. Experience with hotel\-leased operations or room charge settlements is a strong plus. ● **Skills:** Strong understanding of tip credit rules, sales tax compliance, multi\-tender sales reconciliation, and monthly financial reporting.
