Medical Biller & Bookkeeper

**Part\-Time Medical Biller (Mental Health)** ============================================= **Life Skills Awareness** is seeking an experienced **Medical Biller** to join our growing outpatient mental health practice. We are looking for a detail\-oriented professional with extensive experience billing **Medi\-Cal** and working within the behavioral health field. This is a **part\-time hybrid position (approximately 20 hours per week)**. While some remote work is available, applicants must be available to work **at least 15 hours per week in our office**, as collaboration with our administrative and clinical teams is an essential part of the role. Position Details Part\-time (approximately 20 hours per week) * Hybrid schedule * Minimum 15 hours per week in office * Flexible scheduling available * Responsibilities Submit and manage insurance claims with an emphasis on Medi\-Cal billing. * Follow up on unpaid and denied claims. * Verify benefits and eligibility. * Reconcile payments and manage accounts receivable. * Work closely with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve billing issues. * Ensure compliance with Medi\-Cal regulations and behavioral health documentation requirements. * Maintain accurate billing records while protecting patient confidentiality. * Qualifications * **Minimum of 5 years of medical billing experience**, with a strong preference for **mental health or behavioral health billing**. * Demonstrated experience billing **Medi\-Cal** is required. Experience with commercial insurance billing is preferred. * Strong understanding of claim denials, appeals, authorizations, and payment reconciliation. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an in\-office team. * Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred. * Preferred Qualifications Experience in outpatient behavioral health or private practice settings. * Familiarity with California Medi\-Cal regulations and managed care plans. * Knowledge of CPT, ICD\-10, and behavioral health billing practices. * Why Join Us?
