Learn more about our flexible approach to where we work.OverviewWe are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented leader with deep expertise in technical revenue accounting principles to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting background paired with the ability to partner and communicate effectively with external stakeholders to drive desired business outcomes. This role is critical in ensuring new and existing revenue arrangements and policies are assessed and are in compliance with US GAAP while driving continuous process improvements and delivering valuable insights to senior management.This role reports to the Senior Manager of Technical Revenue Accounting within the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) organization. The Technical Revenue team works closely with Finance, Legal, BD, and other business units to ensure compliance with accounting standards, SEC regulations, and internal policies. The team also plays a pivotal role in delivering accurate and strategic communications to external stakeholders.About the JobResearch and provide detailed insights and guidance regarding the accounting treatment of various proposed contracts and product offerings in accordance with ASC 606Analyze customer contracts to identify key terms and ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 606Draft, and maintain technical accounting memos and policies to support revenue accounting conclusions for new and existing product lines Collaborate with external auditors to provide documentation for policy positions in support of quarterly reviews and annual auditsCollaborate cross functionally with Finance, Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to advise on new contracts and productsOwn review of quarterly SOX contract controlsAbout YouMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification required7+ years of progressive accounting experience in both public accounting and industry with a focus on revenue recognition Strong knowledge of US GAAP with a focus on ASC 606 and ASC 340Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence collaborate effectively with stakeholders across all levelsHigh attention to detail and commitment to completeness, accuracy, and integrity in financial reportingPreferred Requirements:Direct experience with public marketplace and/or SaaS companiesAbility to adapt quickly and simultaneously manage multiple projects to a fast-paced and dynamic environmentInstacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work.
