About the TeamMichigan Online School (MOS) is a K-12 tuition-free online public school in the state of Michigan. At MOS, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.Working in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors, teachers, parents and students, the Speech Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language and hearing disorders, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum.Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.Eligibility: Open to residents of MichiganAbout the OpportunityProvide high quality virtual speech-language therapy services to a wide variety of students in grades K-12 in MichiganConduct standard and non-standardized assessments, analyze results and write reports to determine strengths and concerns in the areas of motor speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, literacy, and dysphagiaDevelop treatment plans that are strengths-based as well as child and family-centeredEnsure that IEP, Evaluation and progress monitoring procedures adhere to the district, state and federal guidelinesComply with the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) that impact speech-language pathologistsInitiate, participate in and follow through on MET/IEP procedures as appropriateEnsure that all speech-language evaluations for initial referrals and re-evaluations are conducted within the required timelinesDevelop goals and objectives for each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) with teachers, staff, and parents that are aligned with core standardsProvide speech-language services as indicated on each student’s IEPMaintain accurate, timely records of progress and serviceReport progress to parents as scheduled in students’ IEPsCollaborate in the development of the Review of Existing Evaluation Data (REED) and Evaluation Plan for three (3) year re-evaluationsInitiates and maintains on-going communication with parents and staff to assist with the understanding of speech-language development, evaluation results, and student performance and concernsCollect on-going data and adapt treatment accordingly based on trends in student performanceAttend IEP and Evaluation meetings and provide necessary documentation for team to review in a timely mannerCollaborate with classroom teachers and all other members of a student’s educational teamDemonstrate knowledge of academic standards; aligning them with treatment objectivesDevelop, follow, and communicate a daily schedule to building leaders and department supervisorsAttend regularly scheduled staff meetings and pursue professional development in maintenance of state board licensure and for addressing student and caseload needsFacilitate effective student communication abilities across all modes and levels of languageParticipate in building-based intervention processes to support students and teachersDevelop functional use of district software for purposes of special education compliance and accountability reportingAdditional duties as assignedAbout YouA master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institutionASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)Fulfill special requirements as indicated in Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE), R 340.1796 Teachers of scholars with speech and language impairmentMichigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology, Speech-Language Pathology LicenseProficient in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, Google applications, e-mail, and internet applications; excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong content knowledge in one or more content areasExhibit genuine care for children and a passion for teachingStrong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisionsExhibit flexibility regarding decision-making, daily challenges, and job dutiesHave a strong sense of integrityHave a “team player” attitudeAbility to work in a diverse educational community settingUnderstanding of the community and student demographicsUnderstand state proficiency testing as well as state teaching standardsSatisfactory completion of federal and state required background checkPhysical ability to lift up to 25 poundsAbout Us“We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.” – Ron Packard, CEO & FounderACCEL Schools is a network of 80+ high-performing, public charter schools serving PK-12 students.
