Job Description
Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.The Manager of Deployed Operations is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing operational activities at deployed sites in support of flight test, mission execution, sustainment, or field operations. This role serves as the primary on-site operations lead, ensuring deployed teams, assets, and infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company objectives.This position requires strong operational leadership, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to execute in fast-paced, high-consequence environments.Responsibilities: Deployed Operations LeadershipLead day-to-day operations at deployed or forward operating locationsServe as the primary on-site authority for operational execution, decision-making, and issue resolutionEnsure deployed operations meet schedule, safety, quality, and performance objectivesPlanning & ExecutionExecute site surveys of potential deployed sites to include supply chain availabilityDevelop and execute deployment plans to include personnel, Inventory, equipment, logistics, and facilitiesCoordinate mission readiness, operational timelines, and daily execution plansManage shift schedules, staffing plans, and operational coverage at deployed sitesCross-Functional CoordinationAct as the interface between deployed teams and home-base leadershipCoordinate closely with Engineering, Flight Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Security, IT, and FacilitiesSupport mission rehearsals, readiness reviews, and post-mission debriefsLogistics & Site SupportOversee logistics related to deployed operations, including transportation, housing, site access, and vendor coordinationEnsure deployed infrastructure, tools, and equipment are available and mission-readySupport setup, sustainment, and teardown of deployed sitesSafety, Compliance & Risk ManagementEnforce safety policies, operational procedures, and risk mitigation plansEnsure compliance with site requirements, customer requirements, and applicable regulationsLead incident response, reporting, and corrective actions when requiredTeam LeadershipLead and support deployed personnel, fostering accountability, communication, and high performanceProvide clear direction in dynamic or time-sensitive environmentsReporting & Continuous ImprovementProvide regular operational updates, metrics, and risk assessments to leadershipCapture lessons learned and drive improvements in deployment processes and executionSupport development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deployed operationsMinimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in operations, Engineering, Aviation, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in operations, mission support, field operations, or deployment-based rolesProven experience leading teams in deployed, remote, or high-tempo environmentsStrong operational planning, execution skills and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesPreferred Skills and Experience: Experience in aerospace, defense, aviation, flight test, or mission operationsPrior experience supporting field tests, launches, or expeditionary operationsFamiliarity with safety management systems and operational risk managementExperience working with government, military, or classified programsAbility to operate effectively with limited resources and evolving requirementsMust be able to qualify and maintain clearanceWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:Significant travel required, including extended periods at deployed locations. Current travel expectations include no more than 2 weeks CONUS and 4 weeks OCONUSAbility to work irregular hours, weekends, and shift schedules as mission needs dictateExposure to industrial, airfield, or test environmentsExposure to extreme heat and extreme cold and windy conditionsU.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUSThe person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
