WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORRefinedScience is seeking an experienced Clinical Data Manager 2 to join an interdisciplinary team of computational biologists, data scientists, data engineers, cancer biologists, and clinicians who are seeking to develop new therapies for cancer and other diseases.KEY ACTIVITIESData abstraction from open text notesEfficiently identify and manually abstract pathology, treatment and other clinical data from open text medical notes that is thorough and accurateCollaborate in the development and maintenance of documentation of data definitions and abstraction proceduresMaintain EDC database for disease area(s)Quality controlThink critically to identify potential problems affecting the abstraction process for improvement and quality controlPerform quality review on work completed by other data abstractorsReview data quality dashboards and make correctionsAddress data quality questions from a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, bioinformaticians, and clinical scientistsManage process documentationMultidisciplinary CoordinationTranslation of healthcare and clinical concepts for data engineering workCoordination with clinicians for clarification on abstraction procedures and clinical conceptsSupport the multidisciplinary team in automated abstraction activitiesMUST HAVESBachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare related fieldKnowledge and regular use of medical terminology2+ years of manual data abstraction or chart review experience from EHR source documents such as open text notesOrganized with great attention to detail and a commitment to accuracyWilling to learn and ask questionsPossess high levels of curiosity, initiative, and self-motivationFlexible to adapt in a rapidly growing startup environmentManage time well and be able to prioritizeTeam player who is collaborative and can work in an independent environmentHandle problems in a solutions-oriented mannerCommitment to ensuring regulatory compliance and confidentialityNICE TO HAVESPrior experience in a healthcare or research setting with oncologyPrior experience with analysis of datasets, biostatistics, or SQLFamiliarity with research data capture systems (e.g., REDCap or other EDC platforms).Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and GeminiA successful applicant for this role will likely have a background as a healthcare provider and/or a strong background in investigator led medical research.
