Job Summary:
Blavity Inc. is looking for a Membership Growth & Operations Contractor to support the AfroTech Insider membership program on a part-time contract basis. This is a 1099 contractor role at $45/hour, 15 hours per week, for an initial six-month engagement.
This role is primarily execution focused. The AfroTech Insider team has a defined growth strategy and a clear set of operational and infrastructure projects that need to be built and maintained. The Contractor will own the day-to-day execution of those workstreams building, and maintaining conversion infrastructure, managing reporting systems, coordinating cross-functional project timelines, and running membership operations without requiring close supervision.
The right candidate has direct experience managing membership or subscription programs, is comfortable building operational systems from scratch, and can move quickly across multiple workstreams simultaneously. This role works closely with the AfroTech Insider program team and cross-functional partners in marketing, product, and operations.
This role will report directly to the VP of Content & Programming
Contractors will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role.
Responsibilities:
Membership Acquisition & Conversion InfrastructureBuild and manage conversion pathways that move audiences from free and low-cost programming into paid annual membership, including coordinating with marketing partners on email nurture sequences and campaign timingImplement and maintain UTM tracking and attribution setup across all membership registration links and acquisition touchpoints, so conversion data is accurate and actionableEnsure public-facing membership pages clearly communicate program tiers, pricing, and the path to joining, flag gaps, and coordinate updates with the relevant teamTrack attendance and conversion data across paid and free programming touchpoints; produce monthly reports that show what’s working and where the funnel is losing peopleReporting, KPIs & Tracking SystemsBuild and maintain a membership KPI dashboard tracking enrollment by channel, churn, event engagement, and funnel conversion rates on a weekly and monthly cadenceCoordinate with the operations team to establish the data connections needed to attribute programming attendance to downstream membership and ticket purchasesRun a monthly review of the Insider member service inbox and produce a response time report against program service standardsMaintain the AfroTech Insider KPI tracker on a weekly basis, keeping actuals current and flagging performance gaps to the program leadPartnership & Corporate Membership OperationsMaintain a live tracker of corporate membership partnership deals in the pipeline, coordinating with the sales team to capture seat counts, deal status, and expected close timelinesBuild and distribute a corporate partner communication kit that makes it easy for partner organizations to onboard their employees into the membership programTrack corporate membership renewal activity; prepare member engagement data summaries that support the sales team’s renewal conversationsCross-Functional Project ManagementManage project timelines for membership-related technology and platform builds, coordinating with the product team to keep deliverables on schedule and flag risks earlyTrack event attendance per session (segmented by member vs. non-member) and maintain the speaker pipeline tracker for recurring programmingKeep cross-functional deliverables on track across marketing, product, and operations partners; surface blockers before they delay launches
