As we get to know you during the interview process, we’ll partner with you to find the team and problem space where you can have the most impact.About YouYou’re a product designer with a strong eye for UI and a solid grasp of user experience. You care about making things clear, usable, and well-crafted.You’re comfortable working on different types of problems—new features, improvements to existing flows, or evolving patterns that need to scale. You can zoom in to refine details and zoom out to understand how your work fits into the broader product.You communicate your thinking clearly, collaborate well with cross-functional partners, and take ownership of your work from start to finish.What You’ll DoWork closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to define problems and ship effective solutionsDesign polished interfaces for web and mobile that are intuitive and consistentUse and contribute to our design system to support scalable, cohesive experiencesCreate flows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore and communicate ideasPresent your work and explain your decisions using user needs, product context, and data where availableOwn projects from concept through implementation, ensuring strong design-to-code alignmentIterate based on feedback, product goals, and user insightsIdentify opportunities to improve the product and follow through on solutionsGive and receive thoughtful design feedbackWhat We’re Looking For2–4 years of experience as a Product Designer on a consumer-facing product or gameA portfolio that shows strong UX thinking and high-quality UI designSolid understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, and interaction designExperience designing for both web and mobileExperience working with an established design systemFamiliarity with how design translates into code (HTML/CSS/JS or mobile frameworks)Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma)Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Figma Make, Cursor, Claude Code) to prototype and iterateStrong communication skills in a remote, distributed teamClear written communication and ability to document decisionsOwnership and attention to detail in your workBonus PointsInterest in chess and familiarity with Chess.com or ChessableExperience designing complex or data-rich productsExperience contributing to design systems or pattern librariesFrontend or design engineering experience (web, iOS, or Android)Experience with accessibility and inclusive design practices ---You can learn more about us here:https://www.chess.com/article/view/how-chess-com-virtual-team-works-togetherhttps://www.chess.com/aboutOriginally posted on Himalayas
