Job Description

Accounting Elements is looking for an **E\-Commerce Bookkeeper** who understands how money actually moves through online sales platforms like Shopify. This is a remote W\-2 position for someone who lives and works in the United States. This is a full\-time position, but there is some flexibility between 32 and 40 hours per week for the right person. You will manage bookkeeping and month\-end close responsibilities for a portfolio of growing e\-commerce businesses using combinations of Xero, A2X, Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Cin7 Core/DEAR, and other cloud applications. You should be comfortable tracing activity from gross sales through discounts, fees, refunds, chargebacks, gift cards, sales tax, inventory, cost of goods sold, clearing accounts, and the final bank deposit. When something does not reconcile, you love to pull the string to find out why. Your schedule may have some flexibility, but it should remain consistent, with at least five working hours each day overlapping with 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time. Though we are virtual, you should have your own dedicated workspace. Computer equipment will be provided. **Compensation:** $56,000 \- $64,000 yearly **Responsibilities:*** Review Amazon, Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, and other settlement activity and confirm that deposits tie to the underlying platform reports. * Review A2X postings and mappings for sales, discounts, fees, refunds, sales tax, gift cards, and other activity; troubleshoot exceptions and integration issues. * Reconcile marketplace and payment\-processor clearing accounts without plugging differences or abandoning old balances. * Maintain monthly digital workpapers and prepare necessary journal entries for multiple clients. * Reconcile bank, credit card, inventory, sales tax, payroll, loan, and other balance\-sheet accounts. * Analyze gross margin and cost of goods sold, investigating unexpected changes, missing inventory activity, or incorrect classifications. * Review inventory reports and coordinate adjustments with clients, inventory applications, or internal team members. * Manage day\-to\-day bookkeeping while keeping month\-end deadlines moving. * Prepare clean month\-end files and reports for review, including clear notes regarding open items, unusual activity, and recommendations. * Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, explain findings, and resolve discrepancies in plain English. * Identify risks, unusual trends, and opportunities to improve financial workflows before a client has to ask. * Follow established processes, document procedures, and recommend thoughtful improvements. * Attend training, share useful discoveries with the team, and occasionally contribute a highly specific accounting GIF in Slack. **Qualifications:*** At least four years of hands\-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, including meaningful responsibility for month\-end close and balance\-sheet reconciliations. * At least two
