About the RoleDefine the Future of Platform Operations: Operate a platform built by 200 engineers with a team of only five people. The necessary tools, APIs, and infrastructure for efficient operation do not yet exist and must be built. Gain Broad, Deep Expertise: The role offers hands-on involvement across the entire product and development stack.Recent examples include:Tracing commercial-side dev infrastructure build pipelines.Designing Continuous Delivery (CD) processes for government deployments that will eventually be used commercially.Improving underlying cloud infrastructure emission processes.Working with application teams to learn about and deploy nearly every productThe ideal candidate:Brings a combination of technical depth, problem-solving skills, and leadership experienceNavigates ambiguity and works effectively in complex, distributed systemsCollaborates across teams and escalates issues when needed to maintain progressIdentifies and addresses inefficiencies in workflows and operationsContributes to clarity, accountability, and process improvementBalances individual technical work with big picture system and team needsMust-Have QualificationsProven ability to maintain 99.99% uptime in production environments7+ years of overall experience, including 6+ years in software development and 3+ years in DevOps practices.3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Python or Go, and AWS4+ years of experience working with distributed systemsFamiliarity with Redis, Kafka/PubSub, and relational databasesExperience in fast-paced or startup-like environmentsStrong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams and divisionsAbility to ramp up quickly and contribute in complex, large-scale environmentsDemonstrated leadership in incident management and operational reliabilityNice-to-Have QualificationsExperience with FedRAMP compliance and government security requirementsTrack record of implementing secure CI/CD pipelines in restricted or regulated environmentsActual compensation will be determined based on several non-discriminatory factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.Base salary range:$179,800—$258,500 USDAbnormal AI is an equal opportunity employer.
