BookNook is seeking currently active BookNook tutors to add the reading subject to their tutoring subjects. BookNook Tutors are on the front lines of closing the early-learning gap for K-8 students during a key period of their educational journey. Position SpecificsPosition Type: 1099-eligible independent contractorPay Rate: $20 per hour ($10 per 30-minute session)Timeline: Programming typically runs during the school year, with the busiest months from September-MayAvailability: Especially seeking tutors available to support students between 4:00 - 6:00 PM ET.Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week based on availability provided and the number of active tutoring programs. Schedules may vary based on school requests.Tutoring is only on weekdays (no weekends) and can be before school, during school, or after school.Program duration varies. Tutors are asked to commit to a full program with the same group of students throughout (duration will be known when series are offered)RequirementsMust be at least 18 years oldMust reside in and work from the United States, with a US mailing address.Please note: BookNook is unable to engage with tutors who reside in the following states: California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont, as well as US territories.Knowledge of and experience with reading instruction based in the science of reading.Ability to build meaningful connections with students to create a motivating and encouraging environment.Creativity and flexibility to meet students where they are.Classroom experience and/or online teaching/tutoring experience in math is preferred; experience can include, but is not limited to:having a current/previous teaching licenseserving as a substitute teacher or teaching assistant, paraprofessional, professor, or instructorenrollment in a teacher credential or education degree programand/or tutoring for another tutoring company.Access to a computer (laptop or desktop), webcam, clean and distraction-free environment, and reliable, high-speed internet connection with a speed of at least 20 mbps is a necessity for the position.Our Qualification ProcessApply — Submit an application online Interview — Complete a brief one-way interview by submitting video responses answering questions about your experience and educational knowledge.
