Job Description
Blue Rose Research is seeking an AI Politics Fellow to help Democratic elected officials, candidates, and progressive organizations navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. This is a full-time, one-year fellowship with potential to convert to a permanent position. The Fellow will draft memos, design research instruments, and develop policy frameworks that help Democrats meet this cultural moment with informed, effective messaging and strategy on AI.Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, this Fellow will serve as BRR's in-house expert on AI policy and politics, working closely with our data scientists, researchers, and client-facing teams to integrate AI expertise into our suite of products and services.What You'll DoPolicy Research & AnalysisTrack and analyze AI policy developments at federal, state, and international levels, including legislation, regulation, executive actions, and emerging debatesDevelop policy briefs and strategic recommendations on AI regulation, safety, competition, privacy, and related issuesMonitor AI's impact on jobs, the economy, and society, and advise on how Democrats should respond to these shiftsResearch and analyze strategies for combating AI-generated misinformation in electionsMessaging & Communications StrategyDesign survey research and message testing to evaluate how voters think about AI and understand public opinion on AI-related issuesUtilize Blue Rose’s research, draft messaging guides, talking points, and strategic communications frameworks to help Democratic stakeholdersTranslate complex technical and policy concepts into clear, compelling language for political audiencesStakeholder Engagement & Thought LeadershipSupport BRR's leadership team in client presentations and stakeholder briefings on AI-related topicsRepresent Blue Rose Research as a subject matter expert on AI and politics at conferences, events, and conveningsPosition BRR as a trusted resource on AI policy and messaging within the Democratic ecosystemProduct DevelopmentCollaborate with BRR's data science and engineering teams to integrate AI policy expertise into our research products and toolsProvide input on how BRR can leverage our existing message testing infrastructure to better serve clients on AI-related questionsIdentify opportunities to expand BRR's offerings in the AI and tech policy spaceAbout YouDeep knowledge of technology policy, particularly AI regulation, safety, ethics, competition, and governance2-5 years of professional experience in tech policy, political campaigns, government, advocacy organizations, or related fieldsBackground or familiarity with survey research, message testing, and/or polling methodologyStrong understanding of the Democratic political ecosystem and current political dynamicsExceptional writer and communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical political audiencesComfortable presenting complex research to senior elected officials, campaign staff, and organizational leadershipSelf-starter who can proactively identify emerging issues and opportunities without constant directionPassionate about progressive politics and using research to help Democrats win elections and advance good policyCollaborative team player who works well across disciplines—comfortable coordinating with data scientists, researchers, and political strategistsBonus Points:Technical knowledge of AI and machine learning systemsExperience working on political campaigns, on Capitol Hill, or with Democratic elected officialsExperience working at a polling, analytics, or data firmExisting relationships within the Democratic policy and political communitiesWhat We OfferSalary: $90,000-130,000.Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and health coverage; unlimited vacation leave; annual learning stipend; a supportive, mission-driven cultureWork Setup: Fully remote team with offices in NYC and DC, and regular in-person meetups.
