Job Description
**The Role**
You would join a remote team that tests warehouse software the way a distribution center would use it. The client's developers build the functionality, and our team makes sure it works end to end before it ships. That means thinking like a receiver, a picker, a shipping lead, and an inventory controller, and turning that into test results the developers can act on.
You are the person who pulls the transaction history instead of asking someone what happened. Hands\-on DC experience matters most to us in this round, and the testers who do well here pair it with a habit of digging into the system until the discrepancy makes sense.
Depending on experience, the work ranges from executing assigned test scenarios and logging results with precision to writing test cases from specs and working directly with developers on design gaps. Typical work includes:
* Executing structured test scenarios, including all assigned variations, across the WMS, the WCS, and simulated or emulated automation (conveyor, sortation, ASRS, goods\-to\-person)
* Reviewing functional specs, user stories, and design changes to understand expected behavior and compare it with actual results
* Writing and maintaining test cases for warehouse flows: receiving, putaway, replenishment, wave and order release, picking, packing, shipping, cycle counts, and exception handling
* Running regression cycles ahead of customer deployments
* Logging clear, reproducible defects with steps, data, and expected versus actual results, and retesting fixes
* Managing test cases and defects in Jira and TestRail, plus Sermentic's own testing tools
* Operating the hardware a DC uses with these systems: RF scanners, mobile devices, label printers
* Working with developers, product owners, and the Sermentic team in daily standups and results reviews
* Flagging design gaps and operational risks that a customer would hit in a live DC
**Must\-Haves**
* Hands\-on time in a distribution center (operations, systems support, super user, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement)
* Working knowledge of how a WMS runs a DC day to day and how WCS/WES directs automated equipment
* Experience using, supporting, configuring, or testing a WMS or WCS
* Able to follow a test script exactly, notice when the system does something it shouldn't, and describe it clearly in writing
* Comfortable working remotely on a team: reliable, self\-directed, on video and Teams/Slack during working hours, and able to work from a space where client confidentiality is maintained
* Strong attention to detail and the patience to run repetitive regression cycles well
Formal QA experience is not required. If you know how a DC runs and how the systems drive it, we can teach the testing rigor, tools, and process.
**Nice\-to\-Haves**
* Formal QA or software testing experience, especially with Jira and TestRail
* Quick to pick up new tools; part of the work runs on Sermentic's proprietary testing tools, and we train on t
