Job Description
**The short version**
We're a bookkeeping and financial advisory firm for therapists and private practice owners. We're hiring a Client Relationship Manager to own 25–30 client relationships — running their monthly financial meetings, answering their questions, and being the person they trust with the business side of their practice.
You don't need to be an accountant. You need to be someone people trust with hard conversations, who can make a number make sense to a person who never learned this in grad school.
**Who we are**
Navigator Bookkeeping has spent seven years working almost exclusively with mental health practices — solo therapists, group practices, and the occasional physical therapy or adjacent healthcare practice. We're a team of twelve serving around 110 practices across the country.
Here's what makes us different, and it matters for this role: **our founder was a teacher, not an accountant.** We don't operate from an accounting mindset. We operate from an educator's mindset. Most of our clients tell us the same thing — nobody taught them how to run a business in grad school. They learned to be excellent clinicians and then found themselves responsible for payroll, hiring, compensation splits, taxes, and cash flow with no training at all.
So we don't hand people a profit and loss statement and wish them luck. We teach them to read it. We answer the question behind the question. We tell them, in plain language, what their numbers mean and what to do next.
**Our mission:** to provide immense value to counseling practice owners by guiding them through their financial story and eliminating financial blind spots.
**Our values:**
* **Generosity** — with our clients, our team, and our time
* **Flexibility** — real work\-life balance, not the poster version
* **Transformation** — clients should leave every meeting knowing something they didn't
* **Transparent, authentic communication** — clear, fast, human, no jargon
We take the hospitality side seriously. We send cookies to every client on their birthday. New clients get a plant. Milestones get celebrated with real gifts. We have a team member whose actual job includes noticing what matters to people and doing something about it. If that sounds like your kind of workplace, keep reading.
**The role**
You'd be the client\-facing half of a three\-person team for each of your clients. A dedicated bookkeeper handles the actual bookkeeping — classification, reconciliation, month\-end close. **You own the relationship.**
**What that looks like month to month:**
* Run a live monthly Zoom meeting (up to an hour) with each of your clients — reviewing their financials, walking through clinician profitability, checking cash flow, reviewing compensation models, making sure they're setting aside enough for taxes, and reviewing Profit First allocations
* Answer client questions throughout the month over email and Slack — quickly and clearly, which is genuinely our biggest differentiator in
