All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.Who The Client Is: It is a civil construction business focused on delivering essential infrastructure works across urban and industrial environments. They specialise in practical, end-to-end delivery of civil projects such as Traffic Signal & Electrical Installations, Electronic Signage Installation, earthworks, road construction, drainage, and associated site works. They operate in highly regulated settings where safety, compliance, and coordination are critical, and they are known for taking a hands-on approach to getting projects delivered efficiently and to specification.Role Overview: We’re looking for a Civil Engineer based in the Philippines to work remotely, taking ownership of our estimating function while supporting the commercial delivery of civil infrastructure projects in New South Wales, Australia. This role is primarily focused on estimating, with the opportunity to grow into broader engineering responsibilities over time as you become familiar with our projects and processes, including interpreting drawings, understanding scope, and preparing accurate, well-structured cost estimates.Key Responsibilities:Estimating & TenderingPrepare cost estimates and tender submissions for civil construction projectsConduct takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawingsAnalyse risk and opportunity across project bidsComplete site investigations and pre-tender activities using available online resourcesParticipate in tender follow-up and award processesSupplier & Subcontractor ManagementObtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliersLiaise with subcontractors and assist with onboardingAccess and manage documentation across various client subcontractor portalsMarket Intelligence & ComplianceMonitor industry trends and conduct market and cost benchmarkingEnsure estimates account for relevant safety and compliance requirementsSupport handover documentation to delivery teamsAI & Systems Development (Bonus)Opportunity to contribute to an internal AI-powered estimating tool currently in developmentHelp build and refine a system capable of reading drawings and pricing projects rapidlyRequirementsMinimum 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar roleDegree or background in Civil EngineeringExperience in cost estimating within civil or construction environmentsSolid written and spoken English communication skillsAbility to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawingsStrong proficiency in Excel, with good working knowledge of Word and other standard office toolsPreferred/Nice-to-Have:Exposure to Australian or other Western construction standards (training can be provided on specific requirements)Familiarity with Transport for NSW specifications or similar road and civil authority documentationExperience with estimating software; experience with Quotient is an advantage (training available)Experience using Xero for project finance support is desirableInterest in AI tools and openness to integrating them into day-to-day workflowsWork Arrangement & Expectations:This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client workReflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)Originally posted on Himalayas
