Job Description
PART\-TIME BOOKKEEPER — REMOTE (TEXAS RESIDENTS ONLY)
Rising Skye Profits, LLC \| Starting at 3–5 hours per week, growing with the business
**ABOUT US**
Rising Skye Profits is a boutique bookkeeping firm supporting small business owners who want their books accurate, current, and actually useful for making decisions. We are small on purpose. Our clients get real attention, and the people who work here get the same.
**ABOUT THIS ROLE**
This is a hands\-on role. You carry your own portfolio of clients and take each one the whole way — transaction review, reconciliation, month\-end close, financials out the door.
I want to be straightforward about how this starts, because it is unusual and it matters.
You will begin with one client — a cleanup engagement — and roughly 3–5 hours of work per week. Once that cleanup is complete and the account moves to monthly maintenance, we add the next client. Then the next. Hours and pay grow with each addition.
This is deliberate. I would rather hand you one account at a time and watch you own it completely than hand you five and hope. The pace is slow by design so that nothing gets dropped and you are never underwater.
If you are looking for 30 hours a week starting in September, this is not that role. If you are an experienced bookkeeper looking for a long\-term home where your role grows as the firm does, keep reading.
**WHO THIS IS A FIT FOR**
You have real bookkeeping experience — the kind that comes from carrying 15 or more clients on a monthly cycle across a range of industries — and you are looking for part\-time work that starts small and grows into a lasting role.
What matters is that you can take an account and own it — including the parts nobody assigned you — and that you are looking to grow with one firm rather than split your attention across several.
The work itself is independent. Nobody structures your day or checks whether you started. What makes that work is staying in step with the team while you do it — and being organized enough, across several files at once, that details do not slip while your attention is elsewhere.
**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**
* 5\+ years of hands\-on bookkeeping experience
* Strong QuickBooks Online proficiency (required)
* Solid grounding in double\-entry accounting and month\-end close
* Cleanup and catch\-up experience — you have opened a messy file before and know where to start
* Comfort with payroll journal entries
* Working knowledge of how employer\-sponsored benefits operate in small businesses — how health premiums, retirement contributions, and the split between employee and employer portions flow through payroll and land in the books
* Class and location tracking in QuickBooks Online — you can set it up, code to it consistently, and catch activity that posted unclassed
* Complex journal entries, including intercompany clearing and Due To/From accounts between related entities
* Solid Excel skills — you can build a working schedule or tie\-out, not onl
