Job Description

**LOCATION: This is a remote role but candidates should be based in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, North Carolina or South Carolina.** **Overview** Bluestone Research is seeking a skilled archaeologist to serve as Principal Investigator, responsible for writing and editing high\-quality cultural resource management (CRM) reports. This is a report\-writing and research role, not a field position — the ideal candidate combines strong archaeological knowledge with excellent technical writing and a keen eye for detail. **Position Details** Title:Principal Investigator (Archaeological Report Writer) Location:Remote / Flexible Term: Full\-time or part\-time Pay Scale:$30–$33/hr Fieldwork: Not required **Responsibilities** * Serve as Principal Investigator on assigned projects, coordinating with field archaeologists to gather and interpret project data. * Conduct background and archival research in support of report preparation. * Write and edit clear, accurate, and professional archaeological reports that comply with applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. * Prior to beginning each project, estimate the time needed to complete the report, drawing on the firm's established benchmarks for similar reports. * Communicate proactively if unforeseen complexities arise during writing that require additional time beyond the original estimate. * Take on additional duties as assigned by the Employer from time to time. **Requirements** * Strong background in archaeology and archaeological research methods. * Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, well\-organized, professional reports. * Experience preparing Phase I, II, and/or III CRM reports preferred. * RPA/RA (Register of Professional Archaeologists) certification preferred. * Comfortable working on an hourly basis with variable project volume. **How to Apply** If you have the expertise to craft well\-researched, precise archaeological reports, we'd love to hear from you.
